Even for non-lawyers

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm a marketing copywriter, so persuasion is a big chunk of what I do. I found this book very insightful, and I plan on reading the text version using a more structured approach.

I was skeptical, but

I was skeptical, but this turned out to be one of the best books I’ve read on persuasion. I’ve read a good number of the books quoted in this one, and although this might be more of a collection of ideas than an academic work, it gets the job done, and very well.

Excellent

This is an excellent book for civil litigator's and most of the theories and techniques can also be applied to the practice of criminal law. I will listen to it multiple times.

Good advice for lawyers, not limited to trials

I would add the subtitle, "how to handle people-relations and common situations effectively." This is a voice of experience (dating to pre-digital times), which any thoughtful person can generalize to all sorts of situations. This would have been ideal to know, when I started my solo law (and trial) practice!

Excellent

The first half a chapter one was a dud. I was close to returning the book. The book turned around considerably after the 1st chapter. For anyone new to a court room outside of kangaroo courts, this is a must read.

Enlightening and Valuable information

All of the deep insights into the complexities of the human mind and emotion is valuable to everyone that finds persuasion a part of their profession, as well as those possibly seeking insight into themselves.

insightful discussion of key points in preparing for and working a trial. I've been an attorney for 25 years but still picked up some pointers. thanks for doing this

depth of the material

a person hears about the selection of juries being critical in winning or losing a case, so much so that places like New York City, it is said you can indict a ham sandwich

Liberal sloth

It is great insight into why liberal lawyers do not do well with conservative jurors. This liberal author tries to explain it but his obvious bias shows through even as he attempts to hide it. Short version of his entire book: conservatives are close minded, not as smart, do not share well with others and look to maintain the status quo, while liberals are open minded give freely, generally more educated and able to think beyond their own needs. Garbage. If anything the last four years and especially more recently this bias has been debunked as flawed thinking. Conservatives are more likely to give to the needy than liberals but they want it to be their decision, not the government and they want it to be deserved. Conservatives want the case proven are narrow minded and are less likely to burn the American flag. 😒
