About this listen

The first time you meet someone, you make eye contact. You smile, say hello. Should be simple, if you're anyone but me.

The first time I met Dylan Reed, I found myself making eye contact with a different part of his body. You see, I'm very good at being shy, not to mention extremely well-versed in rambling nonsense and, unfortunately, rather highly skilled at making a fool of myself in front of a guy I'm attracted to. At the time, I knew nothing about him and thought none of what I said would matter since I'd never speak to him again. Turns out, I was very wrong.

He was the star wide receiver of the football team, one of the few players expected to make it into the NFL, and I ended up seeing him all over campus. I might have also propositioned him, run away from him, attacked him with a cooking utensil...and...uh, maybe I shouldn't tell you all of it. It's pretty normal stuff, things you'd expect...from me.

Eventually, the time came when I couldn't hide anymore - not that he'd have let me even if I tried. Before now, he never knew I was secretly watching him. Now that we see each other every day, he knows when I have a hard time looking away. It doesn't help that I'm not the most subtle person in the world either. He smiles at me and tells me he finds me fascinating because of my quirks. I can't even tell him that I think my heart beats differently whenever he's around.

He thinks we're going to be best friends. I think I have a big thing for him, and the more I get to know him, the more I don't care that I'm not allowed to be his friend, let alone fall for him. The thing is, that's exactly what I'm doing - what we're doing, I think. Falling. Hard.

Contains mature themes.

Perfect!!!

I loved the way all the parts of the story came together - and the story was a good one too. It had all the elements I think makes a great story, so excellent job Ella Maise. I also wanna thank you for writing stories like these to help persons like myself believe that we will find our "dream men" one of these days, without having to settle.

And how could I forget the narrators. Thank you both expander Cendese and Linda Sorbet for bringing your awesome narrative skills to this book. Your contribution has definitely helped to enhance the experience.

The Hardest Fall

Good storyline. I laughed a lot. The narrators Alexander Cendese, Lidia Dornet, brought a brilliant spin with there voices. I liked Dylan Reed. He was a strong leading man. Zoe Clarke not so much. She was so insecure it was painful. In the end she grew on me. I could understand her more once I heard her story. Yes, it's worth a credit.

Great story, narration not so much

I didn’t like the male narrator’s “female” voice. It took away the “feel” from the intimate moments between the two characters. The story was great…drawn out a little but good.

Fun story

The story kept my attention throughout and kept me anticipating more. The ending was also beautiful.

Missed you Ella Maise

Great story, very likable characters, depth in supporting friends.....will we get to hear/read Chris’s story? I hope so. I read/listen to Maise’s other books at least annually and this one made it to the repeat list too. Well done! It helps that I really like these Narrators too.

So good!

Wow 😬 awkward first meeting and a bit cringey. Really enjoyed this! 🥰 A bit of a slow burn, but daaaamn does it catch fire when it ignites 🥵 Oh college life, such a mixed bag...  h's sperm donor is a massive POS! 🤬
Warning for chapters 19-21 😔 past tense situations are easier to deal with because of the level of separation, but active scenarios always dredge up memories 😬

Love Ella Maise stories!!

I read the reviews. Please, give this book a chance. The male narrator isn’t as bad as everyone says. I actually really liked him. Female narrator was great as well!!! This was a long story but the length was perfect for what I needed it for!!! Make more stories like The Hardest Fall!! I would love to see a story about Chris!!!

Swoon

For those who love rom-coms this is definitely a must listen. I really hope to see more in this series. The romance and relationship is logical which is a big plus. The narrators are amazing. I totally plan to find more by them.
