About this listen

Dragons are a lusty lot known for grinding their lovers into dust. Talan’alaith’illaria is no exception and has found no man or woman her match or equal in a thousand years. That changes when Raine, the sole survivor of two mythic races, stumbles across the ancient dragon queen in her lair. Raine possesses her father’s strength and her mother’s passion, and the combination ignites the dragon’s desire to an inferno. Talan, greatest of the 12 ancients, at last finds her perfect lover.

Their domestic bliss does not last long, however, as events conspire against their peace. The Hyr’rok’kin, monstrous demons of the underworld, are spewing forth from the Empty Land. Raine is called to join a band of humans, elves, and dwarves in a quest to stop the invasion. She fears no enemy, no injury, not even death itself. But something is waiting at the Gates of Hel, something that seeks to separate Raine from the dragon she is bound to for all of time.

Epic Perfection

I am ashamed that I kept skipping over this book to read others.
There are great books that have touched me emotionally and there are series that have given me an eagerness and joy to a life that can sometimes be difficult and depressing.
I write this review after reading every book available in the series, about three weeks and nine books, after listening to The Dragon's Lover.
I will never be the same.
This first book should come with a warning. You will think of little else besides the characters in this story, and it will continue with each book. If they impact you as they did me, you will wake up with a smile on your face when you realize you dreamt of them.
I could complain that all of the books released are not available on Audible. I will not because this series is so good that everytime a new book is released, on Audible, I will begin again with the first and happily find myself immersed in this world.
Samantha Sabian, I did not know of you when I started this adventure, but now you rank at the top of my list of favorites. I will continue to be a part of the magnificent world you create for as long as you let me.
Thank you for this gift.

Honest Review

It was an overall decent listen. The narrator did a good job. However, the story was lacking in more than a few areas. I hope that since this is a series of 9 books that is why there wasn't much said about the characters back stories or the world the are in either. An example would be how Rain and Talon instantly fell in love and became lifemates. Do dragon's know their mate upon sight and scent, or is it something deeper. Their also isn't a history on the types of races that live or lived in this world. We only know that some are thought to be mythical or extinct, but not really the why, except for the ones with purple eyes. I sense a great potential for the sequels if the author expands the amount of detail on characters, the world they live in, and explains the reasons why certain things happen. I also hope to see an improvement in their writing. I look forward to listening to the second book in the series!

Amazing

This has become my all time favorite series. I saw in another review someone talking about the lack of background and world building and was shocked. Samantha Sabian never falls short with either of these in any of the Chronicles of Arianthem. The story telling and narration are captivating and each book has impressed me more than the last. It’s incredibly refreshing to see lesbian and queer characters portrayed in this way. You truly grow attached to these characters as you get to know and understand them better with every book.

Loved this book. I accidentally listened to the second book first but they are totally different. I wonder what the 3rd is about...

LOVE THIS SERIES.

I am not sure how many people read such fantastic novels, but this is just a fantastic series, I now own the series. There is one thing I feel needs to be mentioned when writers want to mention how a person must bend a knee to the ground for some reason authoors are using wrong word they say kneeled, which is not a word. The correct word that should be used is KNELT as in she knelt to help pick peas. NOT she kneeled to pick peas. Please pass it on. Thanks. A retired teacher and Army Veteran that has knelt at many a Patriots grave.

almost no plot before sex scenes

I don't mind novels with sex scenes, I generally enjoy them. However, this book jumped into extremely complicated sex scenes with almost no exposition to the story. There is weird magic in both characters and one is a shapeshifter who conjures a phallic appendage somehow. it's almost like a surreal dream, things just happen with no rhyme or reason.

Aurora's Angel had weird sex stuff and I was down for it, but that author made sure to at least introduce us to the characters before they go into their weird magical fantasy sex.
