Acerca de esta escucha
It is 1901 when clockmaker and brilliant tinker Sydney Forrester inherits Blakely House, the eclectic estate of an estranged uncle she's never met. The well-known but mysterious industrialist has left behind a stunning array of peculiar inventions—and a couple of nephews intent on removing this interloper from the estate. Convinced that Sydney has something to do with their uncle's death, the late master's nephews contest the will and work against their cousin at every turn.
Sydney finds a sometimes-ally in the estate's butler, an ex-adventurer who ran aground on the island years ago. But when a mysterious man washes ashore with a stunning surprise that upsets everything, Sydney must prove she has inherited the late master's brilliance as well as his property—or someone else will.

A battered woman awakens atop a forgotten gravesite by Lake Superior's southern shore. Identified only by the locket around her neck inscribed with the name Rebecca, she seeks refuge with an elderly lighthouse keeper. But as Rebecca struggles to remember who she is, she finds herself haunted by the lingering memories of Annabel, a mysterious woman who perished in the lake's unforgiving waves years earlier. With the spirit of Annabel seemingly reawakened, and an unknown adversary on the hunt to silence Rebecca once and for all, more is at stake than reclaiming her own memories.

Focused on a career in medicine and not on romance, Willa Duvall is thrown slightly off course during the summer of 1865 when she discovers a never-opened love letter in a crack of her old writing desk. Compelled to find the passionate soul who penned it and the person who never received it, she takes a job as a nurse at the seaside Crestwicke Manor. Everyone at Crestwicke has feelings—mostly negative—about the man who wrote the letter, but he seems to have disappeared. With plenty of clues but few answers, Willa's search becomes even more complicated when she misplaces the letter.

Paris, 1940. Ever since the Nazi Party began burning books, German writers exiled for their opinions or heritage have been taking up residence in Paris. For the last six years, Corinne Bastien has been reading those books and making that library a second home. But when the German army takes possession of Paris, she loses access to the library and all the secrets she’d hidden there.

This story is another brilliant story with so much depth and heart. Great imagination, creativity, whimsy, and delight. But solid storytelling and strong characters. The story wrapped up nicely but I wanted more to the story. I didn’t want it to end. I feel like I just got to know the characters. But then again if she did write more it might of felt like it dragged on too long. Guess the author knows best. I would love to see a book 2…. Sadly I’ve listened to all her books so now I’m going to have to wait again for a new one to come out.
The voice actor does a fantastic job as well I don’t want to skip her. She also does a fine cat impression LOL.
Definitely highly recommend this wonderful story

Absolutely wonderful

This novel stirs the full range of emotions, from raw sorrow to the sweetest joy. Watching Sydney grow closer to God through her trials was a beautiful reminder of the grace we all need. One of the most touching themes was the metaphor of the broken automaton—how we, too, are broken and in need of our loving Father to repair and restore us.
With its elegant prose, compelling plot, and soul-stirring reflections, this book is more than a story—it’s a reminder of hope, redemption, and the tender ways God works in our lives. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a deeply moving read with a strong spiritual foundation.
Captivating
