Acerca de esta escucha
When Aurelie Harcourt's father dies in debtor's prison, he leaves her just two things: his wealthy family, whom she has never met, and his famous pen name, Nathaniel Droll. Her new family greets her with apathy and even resentment. Only the quiet houseguest, Silas Rotherham, welcomes her company.
When Aurelie decides to complete her father's unfinished serial novel, writing the family into the story as unflattering characters, she must keep her identity as Nathaniel Droll hidden while searching for the truth about her mother's disappearance - and perhaps even her father's death.
Author Joanna Davidson Politano's stunning debut set in Victorian England will delight listeners with its highly original plot, lush setting, vibrant characters, and reluctant romance.

Historia
Focused on a career in medicine and not on romance, Willa Duvall is thrown slightly off course during the summer of 1865 when she discovers a never-opened love letter in a crack of her old writing desk. Compelled to find the passionate soul who penned it and the person who never received it, she takes a job as a nurse at the seaside Crestwicke Manor. Everyone at Crestwicke has feelings—mostly negative—about the man who wrote the letter, but he seems to have disappeared. With plenty of clues but few answers, Willa's search becomes even more complicated when she misplaces the letter.

Raina Bretton is a rag woman in London's East End when a handsome stranger appears in a dank alley and offers her a glittering smile and a chance for adventure. Rothburne Abbey has a unique position for her, one that will take her away from her hardscrabble life and give her a chance to be a lady. Things she could only dream of might be coming true. But some dreams turn out to be nightmares. Though Raina has traded squalor for silk and satin, something about the abbey is deeply unsettling.

Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Beautifully-written Story
I hope this author writes more books like this. It gripped my attention from the start and had me thinking about it when I wasn’t listening. After listening to a bunch of trashy romance novels it was so refreshing to find something with real heart, sweetness and intelligence. The suspense and also the main character’s dependence on God when she felt truly alone really made this so satisfying. I can identify with her in many ways. The romance element was not explicit at all but still allowed the chemistry to shine through.

Can’t deal with narrator
I can’t finish this. This narrator is my least favorite, but I thought I’d try anyway. Nope. Even though she can do some voices well, I still can’t tolerate her shakiness, her non-native accent, her dreary tone, her intensity, her vocal fry, etc. It’s frustrating to see her on so many audiobooks.

Favorite Author, Wonderful Story
I understand this is Joanna Davidson Politano’s debut book, but I listened to two others by her before finding this one. (A Rumored Fortune and Finding Lady Everly)
I searched for any other books by Politano after how much I enjoyed those two, and was so excited to find Lady Jane Disappears. It’s just SO GOOD!
Cannot recommend her enough. Take a chance on this Christian author, you will not regret it.

Balm of Gilead did she Borrow...
This is an excellent book. The writing life well represented. A real Spiritual life, too.

Good story, well developed characters
Nicely balanced story with character development, unpredictable twists and turns and enough interesting side-characters to make it an enjoyable listen.

loved it
I loved the story. It kept me guessing all the way to the end. It was also a clean and wholesome romance / mystery.

What an intriguing & interesting novel! The author has talent with words & the proper character development is perfect. Its been a long time since i have sincerely enjoyed a book this much... as well as having to investigate who is who & what characters know what. Absolutely 💯% enjoyable! 👏👏👏👏

Witty
I really enjoyed this audio. It was well preformed thr change of voices was noticeable but not ridiculous. The story itself was cute witty and well formed. Through dialog we are provided character building and through our imagination an image comes to life. ♡
