About this listen
This audiobook is not for avid runners, or those who win 5K races and just want to get better. This audiobook is for people who either want to run their first 5K (or first in a while) or those who just want to get into 5K shape. I'm writing this for the folks that don't run, or may never have ran in the past.

Story
Forget what you might have been told; triathlon running is not like typical running. The triathlon run comes after a swim and a bike. The training, pacing, and technique requirements are very different from regular running. But this isn’t what triathletes have been told. Fortunately, with the right kind of run training, the triathlon run doesn’t have to be a long, painful slog with a stumble to the finish. Triathlon Running Foundations provides the specific information athletes need in order to feel strong for every step of the run, all the way to the finish.

Story
Imagine this (go ahead, it's an easy one): You're bored with your workouts. Nothing's changing; you're not getting stronger or leaner or feeling better, and, heck, maybe you'll just take a layoff and see what happens. You know what happens. That two-week layoff lasts a year, that's what happens! Now consider this: Traffic was light and you're 15 minutes early for your dental cleaning appointment. You flip open your device and bring up your new copy of Before We Go. By the time the dental tech calls you, you've heard two chapters and are amped to get to the gym. Your mind is racing through the appointment, and it's all you can do to stay in that squeaky lounge chair.

Story
As recently as 1966, women were forbidden to run in the marathon. Professionals - including doctors - believed it was physically impossible and dangerous for women to run more than a mile and a half. But as with many other barriers women have faced over time, we fought our way in. Today, women make up almost half of the marathoning population. Yet most marathon training manuals are written by men. And while these men are experts when it comes to how men can and should train, women need training programs tailored to our bodies....

Triathlon: Winning at 70.3 is dedicated to all triathletes who are thinking about stepping up to the middle distance. 70.3 Half Ironman training requires quite a different approach to the shorter distances, and to be successful, a more professional approach to training is required. Do not set yourself up for failure on race day! Simply doubling your Olympic distance training will not work. Those who do this will struggle. Do not be one of these! 70.3 triathlon is a serious step up and preparation is key.

Long distance running is much like any other fitness training. If you want to improve, you need a good plan that has a progressive nature. If you are new to this game, you need a solid foundation to build on. Having a running program is not the only thing that you need. Sound advice and running tips should be taken from someone who has "walked the walk", or in this case, "ran the run".

Now, in this eye-opening follow-up, Fitzgerald teams with Olympic coach Ben Rosario to expand and update the 80/20 program to include ultramarathon training and such popular developments as the use of power meters.

Finally, the solution to the number-one reason we don't exercise: time. Everyone has one minute. A decade ago, Martin Gibala was a young researcher in the field of exercise physiology - with little time to exercise. That critical point in his career launched a passion for high-intensity interval training (HIIT), allowing him to stay in shape with just a few minutes of hard effort. It also prompted Gibala to conduct experiments that helped launch the exploding science of ultralow-volume exercise

Fantastic book for beginners
Any additional comments?
Fantastic book and very realistic about the process of running a 5k and beginning to run in general. The tone was very down to earth and relatable to most non seasoned runners who are looking for good information about the process involved in running a 5k. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to get into running.

Easy Listening and Informative
If you could sum up Surviving a 5K Race in three words, what would they be?
This book is great for anyone who is wanting to get into running or needing instruction towards a reason to start running. If you have run a 5K in the past but stopped running this book also has some great information for you as well.
Any additional comments?
Many people say they want to start running. Maybe its to get in better shape. Perhaps its just something for you to do to be active. In any case, one of the biggest struggles is sticking with your new activity that pushes you to levels you are not always comfortable. Setting a goal to run a race such as a 5K and then training for it helps you have motivation to stick with it. Training the proper way allows you to stay healthy while reaching your goal. This audio book provides clear instruction and insight on ways to prepare for your first race ever or your first race in some time.
