About this listen

Triathlon: Winning at 70.3 is dedicated to all triathletes who are thinking about stepping up to the middle distance. 70.3 Half Ironman training requires quite a different approach to the shorter distances, and to be successful, a more professional approach to training is required. Do not set yourself up for failure on race day! Simply doubling your Olympic distance training will not work. Those who do this will struggle. Do not be one of these!

This comprehensive book will give you a specific road map to 70.3 triathlon training and help you properly prepare for your event. It will include race day nutrition strategies, goal setting tips, help you find your ideal race weight, help you train at the right intensity, understand exactly how much fluid to drink, recovery strategies of the pros, strength training strategies that work, and much more.

70.3 triathlon is a serious step up and preparation is key. Luckily if you do it right, 70.3 training is something that you can fit into a busy life, help you get in the best shape of your life, and succeed. Remove the guesswork and learn what the pros do. This book will cover:

  • How to develop a specific 70.3 training plan that will super charge your race results
  • Advanced recovery strategies so you can train just as hard the following day and not burn out through the season
  • How to prevent injury and maintain a healthy body
  • Learn exactly how much to eat and drink on race day so you avoid costly nutrition mistakes
  • Develop incredible strength in the key muscle groups
  • Summon your mental toughness and inner warrior

Things you may know, but need to hear again, and again

Well thought out and prepared, just like a good triathlon training plan. Most of this I have heard before or already knew, but it is really good to hear again to assure myself I’m headed in the right direction. First time triathlon or doing your 10th this book is great to use as a guide.

Excellent pointers for For triathletes

This book has a ton of valuable information. It got me excited for my goal (first 70.3) and showed me the importance of trusting the process. Golding provides scaffolding for those just entering the sport as well as advice on scientific methodologies. I'm listening to it again and have bookmarked several chapters to review later.

Must read for every triathlete

I have 8 years of triathlon experience with two 70.3's and one iron distance behind me and I have already registered for my next 70.3. I really enjoy this sport. This book is a fantastic way to learn the pearls of wisdom to help you really progress. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get more out of their next triathlon.

Lots of good information & Lots of repetition!

The lack of personal triumphant story examples is the only reason I am giving this book a 4 star review. I like information wrapped around a compelling story to support the facts. There were times as I listened to the book that my mind temporarily disengaged not because the information was not good but that it lacked a little life example to keep me intrigued. I still listened to the the book and reviewed certain sections multiple times. There was a lot of repetition when it related to cross information from chapter to chapter. Consolidation of certain statements might have made each chapter feel less repetitive. Overall I probably needed to hear most of this over and over again so It would sink in.

Not for Audible

Probably a pretty decent book if you buy the hard copy. Not so much as an audio book. The content is good, but there are several work outs in the book that just don't make sense in an audio version. At one point they go through a training schedule (might be 12 weeks?) day by day. Week 1, Monday swim 20 min, week 11 Thursday run x miles at slow pace, etc. I swear it's like 15 minutes of somebody speaking day by day through a training plan. I lost him after Wednesday, week 1.

Skip the audio version. If the premise of the book peeks your interest, grab the hard copy.
