Round 3 and still going

Rivals book 2 as far as a good read. The narrators are excellent. The plot continues where 2 left off with a new couple. I was annoyed by the female character until about 3/4 through- which I think was the author’s intent. Definitely strong foreshadowing for book 4 and I can’t wait to read it!

Strong Series- This Book Not as Good

I'm really enjoying this series as a whole and plan to keep listening as new books come out. This individual book is my least favorite so far. I really struggled to get through it. The plot outside of Tamar was tedious for me. I didn't care for either main character and thought their romance lacked the fire and chemistry of the other books. I liked them as individuals, but as a couple they didn't do anything for me. The spice was boring. Hoping the next book gets back on track because I am very interested to see how all the characters come together to fight the big bad that's coming.

Anything for family

I really love the idea of the Wheel's balance and opposition.

Amara Mutar, water mage of the 2nd House and a merchant will do anything to protect the ones she loves.

Cassian Haydar of the Republic wants revenge for the betrayal of his Senatorial family which sent his parents to the gallows and took the family estate and left him with nothing. He blames himself because he was not at home but with artist friends his father didn't approve of. He has taken up his parents' mission of stealing and freeing slaves

Amara makes a deal with the Saltana, she will go to the Republic (which has banned magic and kills or enslaves mages )and search for the lost mages of the 3rd House to aid against the blight and then she will join The Circle in exchange for a betrothal to the Saltana's cousin.

Cassian becomes Amara and her people's guide on the search.

Are characters see themselves in a very bad light. Cassian sees himself as selfish, worthless, and self-centered. Amara sees herself as a monster for her magic which she had to use when she was a child when her family was attacked. And it takes the two of them to shatter these poorly conceived self-images. Another good look at opposites that complement each other.

Really good series

I have really enjoyed this series! I didn’t know anything about it till someone recommended it. If you like fantasy, adventure, and a bit of romance, this is for you.

Tried

I have tried for literal years to get into this series. It sounds really good and I pre-bought every single one of them. However no matter how hard I try or how long I put it off, I just can’t get into them. So I’m throwing in the towel now.
