About this listen

Become a master of small talk and great first impressions!

According to recent sociological research, an average person interacts with approximately 50,000 people throughout their life. The number is even higher if you live in a big city.

Did you ever wonder what kind of impression you leave on the people you meet? Have you ever been introduced to someone only to run out of things to say after the initial “hello”? Do you struggle with small talk and often find yourself in a “awkward silence” situation?

Luckily, there are methods and techniques you can use to improve your small talk skills, boost your confidence, and make a great first impression every time.

This book has the answers to these important questions:

  • How can you use small talk to make a great first impression?
  • How can you overcome fear and shyness in everyday social interactions?
  • How can you avoid that awkward silence and keep the conversation going?
  • What topics do you use and what to avoid when making small talk?
  • What are some graceful ways to end the conversation?

Even if you’re naturally a person who thrives in social interactions, this book will take those skills to the next level.

Establish connection with people you meet with small talk, avoid awkward silences, stop struggling and start to enjoy social interactions everyday starting today.

A compassionate book for the socially anxious

This audiobook will help you to get you to the next level of conversation skill and I have found all these methods are very much effective and quite easy to follow. It provides effective confidence-building strategies that speakers can try when participating in a range of different social interactions. Very basic knowledge but outstanding real world practical use. I have read the best books in this topic and this one’s pretty simple in comparison. However, I find it unique, that's why I just kept listening. Things I’ve heard before wrapped in kind and genuine words to help those who are struggling to communicate everyday with people and strangers. If you are sometimes socially anxious, if you are overly conscious, if you are afraid of what other people might think, and if all that is hindering you to enjoy even simple social interactions, then this is the book that cares about all that. It’s the most compassionate book I ever read on the art of conversation.

Sharpens interaction skills

Simple Small Talk" delivers so many practical lessons for any level of English speaker. As a native English speaker it might be easy to take for granted or forget the power of small talk since we use it as a tool to transition into and out of daily scenarios. This book brings greater awareness to not only the techniques of small talk, but also a greater understanding of the associated human behaviour. These are particularly helpful lessons for someone keen to sharpen their interaction skills as small talk is not always about talking, it also has much to do with social judgement and perspective. Highly recommended! Worth my 5 stars!

Surprisingly highly helpful for business people.

Surprisingly highly beneficial for business people. I got a lot of useful tips on breaking the ice and making polite conversations. I believe every businessman can benefit from it. I did, and I am an experienced Entrepreneur. Although I have listened to it twice, I just got to order the book so I can write in the book, highlight wherever I desire, paperclip, etc areas that I want to go back to quickly. This is definitely one of the best most-useful books that I have listened to on this platform. It’s worth a try to listen to this one and most of Gerard Shaw’s books. Usually, I get the audiobook first before buying the book version to keep in my library. A nice find and worth every cent I paid. Worth keeping as a reference and guide and definitely worthy to recommend to friends.

A truly inspiring and informative audiobook!

There are so many small talk books out there and so much have been written about the art of conversation but still, so many people feel almost completely inadequate about the whole subject. I’m glad Gerard Shaw had put out there his own take on the subject. Being a communication coach, his approach on small talk is very motivational and is targeted towards those who are finding it a challenge. Overall I think this book is great, especially for people who experience anxiety with social situations as I do. With that being said, the book does not do the work for you, but it does prepare you on how to effectively make social situations more successful. Having a better understanding of the social codes and having a firm grasp on two essential forms of communication, verbal and nonverbal communication, in one book is very empowering. I felt a surge of confidence in me for having these information and having worked on my internal challenges that used to hinder me from getting anywhere in communicating with others. A truly inspiring and informative audiobook.
