About this listen

Chris McKenna gladly escaped the crowds of Yosemite to work as the new search and rescue in tiny Sierra City, nestled just west of Lake Tahoe. A loner by nature, she didn't mind the seclusion of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Jessie Stone, a successful but reclusive writer, is haunted by memories of her childhood and finally returns to Sierra City after 16 years to confront her past....

Can the odd assortment of residents of this small mountain town bring the two of them together? Or will it be Annie Stone, a woman Chris has grown to admire and a woman Jessie still feels hatred for, who has the power to bind the two?

Through lies and deception, Chris and Jessie each struggle to deny the growing attraction that could brighten both their lives....

Goodbye Jack

I like Gerri Hill and was happy to see her dark side show a little. Nice job!

Wonderful and surprising!

Great story and so much more than just a romance. No spoilers here. Read it!

Love waits heaing most awful moments

Jessie & Annie are connected in ways years will not break. Chris will bring them back together for a healing they all need. There are some hard moments as a child come to grip with what she must remember to let go of her hate. The characters, Jessie and Chris have an amazing connection - so hot and deep friendship. Of course there is snow mountain rescues and lots of intriguing moments but the end is a great twist. Abby Craden give so much to each character that you feel them easily. I just love Gerri Hill and Abby combo.

Abby Craden can do no wrong

Abby could literally read a user manual and I would be happy. Once again a beautiful story from Hill and made even more beautiful by Abby.

Nice twist

Compelling story of strong women and how they survived and finally thrived. Some was predictable, but the twist at the end was a perfect way to close the circle. Jack is hopefully exactly where he belongs. Chris was almost too good to be true and Annie was a great character. Not a repeat type listen, but a very good story.

Slow Burn. Rushed Romance.

Very slow start. This seemed pretty boring in the beginning. The main characters don’t meet until the 9th chapter and their confessions for each other just after a few weeks seems unbelievable. Not one of my favorites from the other. The characters connection felt rushed at the end..

Wow !

When I don’t know which book to listen too, I always know that a Gerri Hill book narrated by Abby Craden will be a hit, and it is always true.
I loved this book... loved the characters, would have loved to know more about Annie, drama was kept low enough but not too low which was good, and there was nothing strange or not having sense in this book. Excellent.

Great story with a super epilogue! I enjoyed the book from the beginning, but the ending sealed it for me!

Beautiful and tragic

What a descriptive, tragic and mysterious love story. The blizzard scene was so well written I felt the wind and the cold as I listened to every word. I shall keep this one in my favorites collection
