She is determined to get Isabel's beloved apple orchard vibrant again. She hires the inexperienced Dylan Hayes, a woman soon to be homeless, to take on the chore of restoring the orchard to its original glory.

The normally quiet and reserved Madilyn finds a new joy in life as she becomes friends with the outgoing and energetic woman who has come to live on the property. As she is transformed from a stoic and passive heiress to a happy and spirited woman, she realizes the similarities of her journey and that of Isabel's.

Like Isabel, is she destined to marry a man she doesn't love? Or will she find the strength that eluded Isabel and follow her heart?

Absolutely LOVED this book

Well worth the read... the love story that's behind the book was unexpected and beyond heartwarming. I'm usually not a crier but the story broke me. So so sad, but I understood being the time it took place. I highly recommend this book. I will definitely will re-listen to this book.

Refreshing characters and subject matter

I liked reading about a healthy, loving relationship, between two women. I cringed a bit every time Madeline’s voice became that of a 15 year old girl, when she was with Dillon. That really spoiled it for me. Wasn’t she 36? Still, I would recommend!

So dang effin good

I found myself with a cheesy grin the whole time I listened! It just made my heart so dang happy! Just a truly lovely story, past and present! Loved the characters and the writing, and anything Anny Craden does is pure magic to me!!!

Somehow apples, orchards, bridges, blankets, picnics and exploring will never be the same for me. They are forever linked to romance, longing, deep kisses, the smell of rich soil and apples, the sounds of lovemaking and the music I heard while listening to the words that brought this story to life! Great writing! Great narration!
