About this listen

Meet bad boy pitcher, Zach Pritchett....

Two things I love: baseball and Lacey Stark. Back in college, I had them both. But after graduation, I made the biggest mistake of my life. I let Lacey go.

Five years later, I can't complain. A Cy Young winner, I've achieved what I set out to do - pitching in the Major Leagues. Life is great. Until it's not. And the day it all went south? The day Lacey Stark appeared at my post press conference.

The reality of not having her slams against my chest. Lacey's still sexy as hell, sporting more curves and a little more sass. Pitching in the Majors isn't the only thing I want anymore. Now, it's time to go after what I've denied myself all these years. I want Lacey and will stop at nothing until I make her mine.

Lacey seems determined to stay away, but we belong together. I know this. I just need to convince her to give me another chance. Because one thing is guaranteed, I won't stop until she's back in my arms.

I Love A Good Baseball Romance

I won’t lie, I was skeptical at first thought it was going to be a “force yourself to get through” but from the first media conference, to the very last epilogue it had me. His determination to get her to talk to him and get her back was so imo nice and sweet did not really appreciate Lacey hiding something that big, but I understand the self sacrifice she did for him. I am a huge sucker for when one or the other does something so selfless, but when it involves a little human you also have to think for them. I held on to every word. Can’t wait for the next book on the series!!

Baseball romance

Love baseball stories! Our hero is a bit of an ass for a lot of the book but part of the plot. Heroine is super sweet and despite her efforts still in love with him. Very swoon worthy HEA.

Great Listen

This is my first book by this author, and I really surprised how much I loved this book.
Second Chance Hero is the perfect title for this one and lived up to the title.

It is a great second chance romance with so many feelings and emotions. The characters are lovable and make it easy to enjoy this story.

I loved this audio for the narrators and the way they brought this one to life with emotions.

Great story!

I really liked this book. The characters are a little dense but otherwise very likable.

The narrators are great!

Second chance, but hero?

Guy and girl fall in love in college. Guy moves on without looking back. They meet up after years apart. Big secret, she was pregnant. Guy gets a, 'how could you do this to me' attitude . I don't understand why some storylines insist on 'blaming' the woman for not telling the 'father' (dumper) about the pregnancy. HE broke it off! I listened to this twice. Understanding the need for angst and realizing it made me feel just what it was meant to make me feel, I raised my rating. Very well written and narrated. It was the story - not the writer or narration I was upset with.

Wonderful sports romance!

This subgenre of second chance romance is one of my favorites. I love how a couple first will meet and how their history brings them to their second chance. This story sets Zach, as an up and coming baseball pitcher in his last year of college when he meets Lacey. Zach, always the player is taken with her and settles into a comfortable relationship, but when graduation comes and it's time for him to go to his team for training, he leaves Lacey behind. Forward 5 years, and now we get to see him try to make up for his decision. Kimberly Readnour has written this story with care and shows how time can lead to regret, and reward. There is something to be said about growing up and making up and this story shows how both Lacey and Zach have changed during their separation, but the love they have has not diminished. There are things that have happened to both of them that are addressed and how they come together to face the future is a beautiful. Readnour includes a colorful cast of supportive characters that keep things in perspective for this couple, and her well placed humor keeps the listen light and fun.

Zach needs a narration that is both passionate and reflective on his past, and Aaron Shedlock is the perfect fit. I love his ability to make you feel Zach in every part of his life and decisions. While not agreeing with Zach's choices, Shedlock's performance made me empathize with Zach at each turn. Charlotte North's portrayal of Lacey is spot-on. I could relate completely with Lacey, and North gave us all the feels of her life choices. A wonderful listen from these two narrators.

Good story .... bit short though

This was a first book I’ve read by this author and I will read the next ones in the series. The story was great and kept my interest. For a sports romance there was a good amount of attention to the sport (some sport romances never even include the sport just refer to it).

I will say I wished that the author spent more time unwrapping the story as it felt rushed and a bit superficial on some areas. However this didn’t stop me wanting to listen to more. The female lead Lacey was a bit clueless with birth control and I found this out of character with her personality and strength. Zach seemed to change his mind with a blink of an eye. If the author spent a bit more time developing these story lines the book would have been a fantastic five star.

The narrators did a great job and I was able to enjoy the story with any reminders that’s this was a book being read.

Second Chance Romance

Audiobook review
Narrated by Aaron Shedlock and Charlotte North

I am heading down the second chance romance rabbit hole and this one did not disappoint.
This was a lost love story of a college couple Lacey and Zach.
Zach was on his way to become a professional baseball player and Lacey was majoring in communication to work in sports.
When their paths cross and sparks fly they have a few months to soak up this romance and enjoy the most before they have to part ways. Zach made it clear that after college he will have to go and focus on becoming a professional baseball player and Lacey understands and doesn’t fight for him when it’s time for them to part.
5 years later at a press conference for Zach’s professional team, Lacey is the reporter. Their eyes lock and the past floods back.
Only problem is, Lacey has secrets that Zach isn’t aware of and it will change the outcome of everything going forward.
I loved this story, the angst, the winning back the only person you ever loved the friendships, the SPICE, the back and forth of past and present and the narrators, Aaron Shedlock has the perfect voice for Zach, the cockyness and the caring side all came out so great in this story.

It’s a cute book

The story’s was good. The performance was great! The thing that bothers me is Lacy pretty much getting prego on purpose and knowing she did it twice just rubbed me the wrong way. She wasn’t on birth control and lied about it and then did it another time. I just think that’s wrong in this book tries to make it sound OK. That’s my only complaint.
