About this listen

After rescuing the party of young adventurers inside a dungeon and spending some time together, Asterios and Miria head out to hold a summoning ritual that could possibly allow them to find a fitting member for their small party. But nothing is as simple as it usually seems.

During their journeys, the duo of adventurers, or perhaps trio if the summoning succeeds, will have to work together through a few small obstacles on their path, some directly connected to Ast's family. Will they challenge the dungeon again? What will be their next destination? Will they learn more about Ast's unusual power?

One thing is certain, their bonds will surely grow stronger.

Great continuation

JRS does a wonderful job expanding the story and filling in the relationships, love the slow burn, I like how it brings them together. Heheh audible by JW & EL do a wonderful job and add to the overall experience, one odd thing is that the internal discussions come out louder than the verbal dialog - doesn’t break the immersion by can make you flinch. Overall loved it and moving directly into book 3 audible!

Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume II

Introduction:
Greetings, fellow beings of HowlStrom. I am Kiba Snowpaw, a Furry male Ice Wolf with the power of ice magic, hailing from our icy realm. Having spent over 36 years in our world, gaming and exploring the vast landscapes, I've come across many tales. Today, I bring forth my thoughts on "Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume II" by J.R. Saileri.

Hook and Thesis:
In a world where summoning is an art, and bonds are the essence of power, Asterios and Miria's journey is one that resonates with the heartbeats of every creature, furry or not. This tale is not just about summoning; it's about finding one's place in a vast universe, understanding the depths of bonds, and the strength that lies in being the 'weakest'.

Basic Plot Summary:
After a daring rescue inside a treacherous dungeon, Asterios and Miria set forth on a quest to perform a summoning ritual. Their hope? To find a fitting member for their party. But as with all adventures, challenges arise, some even linked to Asterios's own lineage. The duo, or perhaps soon-to-be trio, face trials, dungeons, and revelations about Asterios's unique power.

Analysis/Evaluation:
Saileri's narrative is a masterful blend of fantasy elements with the intricate details of summoning rituals, making it a treat for readers who appreciate depth in world-building. The story's pace is well-balanced, ensuring readers are neither overwhelmed nor left wanting.

Characters:

Asterios: A summoner with a mysterious power, his journey of self-discovery is both heartwarming and thrilling. His character development, from a novice to someone who commands respect, is commendable.

Miria: More than just a sidekick, her bond with Asterios is the heart of the story. Their interactions provide both comedic relief and emotional depth.

Structure:
The narrative structure is well-organized, with each chapter flowing seamlessly into the next. Flashbacks are used effectively, providing valuable insights into the characters' pasts without disrupting the story's flow.

Impact:
For a furry like me, the bonds depicted in the story, especially between Asterios and his summons, resonate deeply. It's a reminder of the connections we share with our kin in HowlStrom.

Praise and Critique:
The world-building is impeccable, and the character dynamics are beautifully portrayed. However, I felt that certain aspects of the harem genre overshadowed the core essence of the story at times. A little more focus on the summoning rituals and less on the romantic entanglements would elevate the narrative.

Comparison:
While many stories delve into the realm of magic and summoning, "Rise of the Weakest Summoner" stands out due to its unique take on bonds and relationships. It's reminiscent of classic tales from our world, but with a fresh perspective.

Conclusion:
"Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume II" is a tale that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page. It's a journey of discovery, bonds, and the true meaning of strength. As an Ice Wolf from HowlStrom, I can attest to the power of bonds, and this story captures that essence beautifully. I eagerly await the next volume and the continuation of Asterios and Miria's journey.

enter main character with a God complex.

okay, so this is the second installment of the weakest summoner. the characters are shallow. i knew that going in. however i was hoping that this feel good story would be a soft hearted slice of life harem.
i lost the feel good. when the main character decided that following the rules didn't apply to him.
then the main character decided that he was going to torture poison and even hold a knife to the tormented kids father. all while beating a confession. i read the first book. i know what the protagonists did. the mc however is the one who is going off the deep end. all while the female harem members assist him.

this is all because his mother would be under investigation for embezzlement of gold. while the annoying protag who mocked him in what amounted to highschool needed a lesson. did the author watch a school shooter documentary and decide yes that who i want to base my main character on.

what should have been a minor highschool fight went off the deep end. into the deranged. the way the story was written. it almost like the target audience was young teen boys who wanted to read something smutty. i didn't mind that it wasn't written for an adult audience. i enjoyed it while waiting for my favorites book to get another installment or an audible.
this story however I'm wondering what the author was thinking. dangerous dirty fantasies. where as long as your not caught everything is okay. the target audience isn't for mature adults. it obviously for kids in middle and highschool who are using their mom credit cards to get the lastest book.

okay i should mention the narrators did a pretty good job. the female voices were a bit weak admittedly 30 minutes after pausing the story. i can't recall if it was because a male narrators was failing to imitate a female voice or the female they found just wasn't a woman voice i ever want to listen to. the main character voice was okay, and the two female support characters were alright. however pretty much any female that wasn't those two i didn't really appreciate listening to. it wasn’t super horrible admittedly. just not nice.
