Acerca de esta escucha

Aside from her rock star looks, Catra Corbett is a standout in the running world on her accomplishments alone. Catra is the first American woman to run over 100 miles or more on more than 100 occasions and the first to run 100 and 200 miles in the Ohlone Wilderness, and she holds the fastest known double time for the 425-miles long John Muir Trail, completing it in 12 days, four hours, and 57 minutes.

And, unbelievably, she's also a former meth addict.

After two years of addiction, Catra is busted while selling, and a night in jail is enough to set her straight. She gives up drugs and moves back home with her mother, abandoning her friends, her boyfriend, and the lifestyle that she came to depend on. Her only clean friend pushes her to train for a 10K with him, and surprisingly, she likes it and decides to run her first marathon after that.

In Reborn on the Run, the listener keeps pace with Catra as she runs through difficult terrain and extreme weather, is stalked by animals in the wilderness, and nearly dies on a training run but continues on, smashing running records and becoming one of the world's best ultrarunners.

A truly inspiring story of healing through finding a passion. Catra is such a unique voice and’s I found much of what she has to say difficult to listen to. Often because it made me confront some of my own demons that chase me in my runs. The cause of many of her pains may be different from the readers, but the pain itself is all too familiar. It’s inspiring to hear from a tough as nails person who refuses to be defined by pain, and instead finds a way to use it as fuel for the positive. A great read. Highly recommended.

Authentic, honest, heartbreaking, and inspiring.

Loved the history of Catra and her victory in life. Something all of us seek and few of us find.

Catra rocks!

The narrator was perfect for this book, she portrayed Catra so well, I thought I was with Catra on my walks, as she told me her story, which is amazing!

I was with Catra

Wasn’t sure what I’d think of this book. I didn’t know much about Catra going in. I’ve always said messy testimonies make for the most impactful ones, and this is a motivating, encouraging, and heartfelt story I can relate to. If you are a runner (or not) and have loved someone (or been someone) with addiction issues, you’ll get into the story told and and probably feel parts that didn’t make the book too. This is a new favorite. Thanks.

just awesome

Personal journal type story line. the narrator seemd robotic so some of the language and explanations of personal experience missed the mark.

Journal type story, robotic narrative.

In most cases, I agree that the author should not read the story. I wish Catra read this one. Have you heard her podcasts?! Her voice and enthusiasm for life would have made this even better.

Great story
