About this listen

Develop a powerful practice of deep relaxation and transformative self-inquiry with this essential guide to Yoga Nidra, including audio meditations.

Yoga Nidra is a practice devoted to allowing your body and mind to rest while your consciousness remains awake and aware, creating the opportunity for you to tap into a deeper understanding of yourself and your true nature. At its heart, Yoga Nidra is about waking up to the fullness of your life. In Radiant Rest, Tracee Stanley draws on over 20 years of experience as a Yoga Nidra teacher and practitioner to introduce the history of Yoga Nidra, mind and body relaxation, and the surprising power of rest in our daily lives.

This accessible guide shares six essential practices arranged around the koshas, the five subtle layers of the body: the physical, energetic, mental, intuitive, and bliss bodies. It also offers shorter, accessible practices for people pressed for time. Each practice is explained through step-by-step instructions and ends with self-inquiry prompts. A set of guided audio meditations provide further instruction. Feel a greater sense of stability, peace, and clarity in all aspects of your life as you deepen your Yoga Nidra practice and discover its true power.

One of the best book on yoga nidra. I will be ordering a hard copy

The study of yoga nidra is both fascinating and helpful for mental health and rest. Tracee Stanley does an amazing job in explaining the benefits of yoga nidra and how to implement them in the daily life of a human being. No matter what your life may look like, how much time you may have to practice, if you are a mother or father, young or old, it is a practice that will benefit all.
* I have a very low performance star because throughout the book, they replaced some parts of the book with a completely different sound recording. It’s not smooth…but I have OCD so it may not bother everyone. I absolutely love this book and will be ordering a hard copy.

Recommend the kindle or print version

This book is my introduction to yoga nidra and it was good. Most of the book is practices, which I found difficult to listen to. Some of them have over 12 steps. Tracee isn’t guiding you through the practices, she’s reading the steps and how long to do each one. That is better for me in print.

I like the book and recommend it overall, Unless you do the combo purchase, stick with just a print version if you’re like me and find it hard to remember steps or listen to them. Like listening to someone telling you every step of how to tie your shoe laces.

I also do wish there were fewer practices and more depth about the power of yoga nidra. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by all the options of what can be done. I’m not a yoga teacher. I’m someone who wants to start a yoga nidra practice.

Small thing, the audio is also patchy in that you can tell when something was recorded at a later date and inserted because it has different quality and style.

I also have an email to customer service at Shambhala to access the accompanying audio of the practices. For some reason I get errors on my MacBook and iphone and am unable to locate them on Sound Cloud after a few searches. As others have mentioned, these recordings are extremely generous and I'm looking forward to them as training wheels until I start self guiding.

Really Love the Information Shared

Wish there was a PDF of the practices but planning to get the physical book. There appears to be a missing section in the audio book as there were several minutes in the Pranayam section with no audio. Other than that I enjoyed .

Modern, informative, blissful

I am so grateful to Tracee her teaching in this book had me fallen in love with Nidra. True beauty.

This book is read by the author herself, filled all many gems - her pacing , authenticity, wisdom radiates through the audio.

It has helped me through very difficult time in the pandemic and endless lockdown. Also it has held beautiful space for me to process our judgemental thought, biases, many forms of traumas.

Highly recommended to anyone who are looking for a healing space to explore inner dimension.

Motivation to Learn

This book is great for those interested in learning more and sharing knowledge of yoga. The does a great job introducing a branch of yoga I have never heard about. It has inspired me to add it as a component of my yoga classes. The format of the book is great for yoga teachers, and seekers. It give great references to other books and provides an audio verse of the classes talk through in the book. I can’t wait to try it with the audio version online.

Life changing

This book is an impeccable presentation of the deep and ancient yogic practice of Yoga Nidra. It is both revelatory and approachable and offers much immediately applicable wisdom. The author’s voice is also transporting so it feels like a transmission of knowledge rather than a mere reading. Highly recommended!!

Terrible editing

Skip the audio and buy the book. The audio editing is terrible with frequently repeated sentences and sections that were obviously re-recorded where the tone and pace of the voice changes entirely. It’s distracting.

Too advanced for me, alas

This book seems targeted for instructors and advanced yoga practitioners, despite including householder practices. Harder to follow for a curious bystander who listens to books to fall asleep. Also for an audio book, it seems like a missed opportunity to put the guided audio practices themselves on an external web page. I would have explored an audio appendix if it were included here. The book is good for what it is. Even I found some ideas to take away with me. It was just not my cup of chamomile tea. Maybe I will grow into it.

avoid sambala books. avoid this author

I went to shambhala books to get the full length practices and there was nothing there unless you buy another copy from them I guess. b when the author reads the practices instead of letting the tape run for say 2 minutes or whatever she simply says" 2. minutes". I assume we're supposed to try to maintain relaxation while we're getting up and down and turning the phone on and off to stop and start the narrative. very shoddy workmanship.
