Publisher's summary
Philadelphia's kingpin is a queen with a tragic past; this is her story of survival and strength from the beginning....
Just as every superhero has an origin story, so does every drug dealer who holds the title "kingpin". Before all of the hood fame, fancy cars, nice clothes, lavish homes, luxurious vacations, and loads of money, Sarita Powell had to go through the mud. She experienced the heartbreak of her mother's death when she was a little girl, pain from the abuse she endured at the hands of the very person she'd hoped would keep her safe, and confusion about the many family secrets and lies that one day would show their ugly face. It wasn't until all of these hardships were behind her that Sarita found herself in a position of power, strength, and respect. She is the woman she never imagined she could become. This is the origin of a true dope girl who took Philadelphia by storm in the period of one summer.

Story
My name is Kennedy Desiree Carter. I met the love of my life, Damion "King" Carter, five years ago. Back then, you would not have been able to convince me of the way that he would change my life, in good ways and bad. I was a good girl; on my way to college with a high GPA and big dreams of becoming a child psychologist. Yet, as soon as I met King, I also dreamed of being the best rider that any street nigga had ever seen. I was a good girl with a bad boy fetish, and King was the ultimate bad boy that came to love me in ways that I had never felt before.

Pain is a survival mechanism of fundamental importance. It plays a crucial role in our lives, and eventually molds us into whoever it is that we become. At least it did for Zuri. Accomplishing all it took to make history, including rubbing elbows with celebrities and expanding his businesses out of state, he avoided all the bounties put on his head and the NYPD’s handcuffs. Ruby set the bar in Brooklyn, and when he finally became a legit family man, he left behind rules. Ten years later, Brooklyn’s kingpins have followed in Ruby’s footsteps. Story
Carl Weber brings together two popular Urban Audiobooks divas to give listeners what they've been asking for: passionate, empowering stories about the lives and loves of big, beautiful women. Newly divorced 40-year-old Desa Rae finds herself alone now that her son has gone away to college. She's taken to her bed, watching life pass her by - until Roc, a 24-year-old with a jaw-dropping body comes along. Avery Belmont is a diva in her own right. Smart, sassy, and successful, she has always had it going on.

Good Read!!
There were a lot of twist and turns to the story line that made the story interesting and adventurous. I definitely will ready Philly Girl 2.

Not as good as I hoped
Choosing a narrator that knows how to pronounce the words of the things you're writing about is important. This narrator was consistently mispronouncing things and at one point I even heard her checking her notes before continuing. Does no one listen to each audible book at the publishing company before publishing to make sure they're showing your best work? Now, onto the actual book. It was a decent read. Unfortunately, I really didn't like most of these characters , including Serita. I was entertained by the ruthlessness of most of these characters however. It was a pretty good read. I wish the narrator had done better.

Loved It
The story was captivating and intriguing. I of course had hoped for of the characters to survive, but in the end, that’s the game.

Philly girl
I’m a Philly girl born and raise the book is okay . I didn’t feel like the character was from Philly there was no Philly slang or just places ppl who be in the streets would actually hang out . The story is just unbelievable but it has a good story line. If they want to make it like a Philly girl they need to have the characters speak like they from Philly.

Good storyline
This was a good storyline, but I’m not sure about the narrator. There wasn’t enough life in her voice for the parts. If this is her first time narrating…then she will be better. Enjoyed the read though.

Ehhh
Book was ok the plot was all over the place and didn’t really make sense. Some of the scenes felt forced and made up on the fly.
