About this listen

While walking through the woods, a group of boys—Daniel Burke, Gavin Graves, and brothers Connor and Tyler Parker—discover the abandoned body of a female high school student. The body is bruised but clean, lifeless but fresh. Torn between fear and fascination, the boys decide to keep the corpse hidden in a ditch in the woods in order to keep her as their girlfriend—to converse with her, to flirt, to practice, to love.

What follows is a story of adolescence, friendship, love, envy, hatred, and extreme horror.

Jon Athan, the author of Are Your Parents Home? and The Groomer, brings you a disturbing tale of 'young love' and human horror. Could you ever love a dead body?

Rewritten and re-edited from the ground up, the 2025 Author’s Enhanced Edition of this novel is an uncut, uncensored, and extended version of the original story. It is the definitive ‘Our Dead Girlfriend’ experience.

This is what I expect from extreme horror. And the narrator did such a fantastic job I really was into every character.

Such great narration!

This guy never disappoints! My top from him still remains to be Are your Parents Home? But this comes in at a close second! Incredible detail and unmatched gore!10/10

I deeply enjoyed this book and the narrator. I was so invested in the down fall of one character. I was absolutely enthralled but Athans writing. I have never in my life had so much Hatred for a piece of shit who should’ve been ripped apart little by little until he bleed out.
Overall I’m just mad that little shit survived.

Hatred

This book made me so ill, I do not recommend unless you really *really* like gore.

I don't know what this author's intention was. I love dark and twisted stories. But in this book, the plot was super thin, the characters were very surface level, and there was no satisfying or realistic ending considering how forensics works. Just bad story telling and writing that is bland. Tbh, this author also wrote about how teenagers actually act very poorly and inaccurate. The narration was so-so. At times odd and distracting character voices. This book simply makes no sense. Could've been a short story and accomplished the same effect. Not impressed, kinda disappointed. And tbh, the 5 star scores are obviously from acquaintances. Seeing as a very vague one appeared 2 days after mine. Take the criticism, improve and move on.

Is...that it?

I’ve recently gotten into the splatter punk genre. Now granted that I’m still new I did not enjoy this book. Not because of the gore but because this book read like a fanfiction. The physical descriptions of the characters right off the bat, the overuse of references, the “slang”, the “bullies”, the totally unrealistic actions of the adults, etc. I also feel like the author wanted us to feel bad for Daniel, which would have gone a lot better if the story had been told through his point of view. He should have chosen either Connor or Daniel to tell this story. I didn’t connect to any of the characters and the end felt so corny and rushed. In fact the whole book felt rushed. The only reason I even finished this book was because of the narrator.

Waste of a credit
