About this listen

A 2020 Audie winner - best female narrator

A Read with Jenna Today Show Book Club Pick!

Audiobook performed by Marin Ireland.

"I can’t believe how good this book is.... It’s wholly original. It’s also perfect.... Wilson writes with such a light touch.... The brilliance of the novel [is] that it distracts you with these weirdo characters and mesmerizing and funny sentences and then hits you in a way you didn’t see coming. You’re laughing so hard you don’t even realize that you’ve suddenly caught fire." (Taffy Brodesser-Akner, New York Times Book Review)

Kevin Wilson’s best book yet - a moving and uproarious novel about a woman who finds meaning in her life when she begins caring for two children with remarkable and disturbing abilities.

Lillian and Madison were unlikely roommates and yet inseparable friends at their elite boarding school. But then, Lillian had to leave the school unexpectedly in the wake of a scandal, and they’ve barely spoken since. Until now, when Lillian gets a letter from Madison pleading for her help.

Madison’s twin stepkids are moving in with her family, and she wants Lillian to be their caretaker. However, there’s a catch: The twins spontaneously combust when they get agitated, flames igniting from their skin in a startling but beautiful way. Lillian is convinced Madison is pulling her leg, but it’s the truth.

Thinking of her dead-end life at home, the life that has consistently disappointed her, Lillian figures she has nothing to lose. Over the course of one humid, demanding summer, Lillian and the twins learn to trust each other - and stay cool - while also staying out of the way of Madison’s buttoned-up politician husband. Surprised by her own ingenuity yet unused to the intense feelings of protectiveness she feels for them, Lillian ultimately begins to accept that she needs these strange children as much as they need her - urgently and fiercely. Couldn’t this be the start of the amazing life she’d always hoped for?

With white-hot wit and a big, tender heart, Kevin Wilson has written his best book yet - a most unusual story of parental love.

With years of listening, countless customer reviews, and a catalog of seemingly infinite great listens, 100 suddenly felt like a very small number. What we know for sure—each title that made it to this collection is elevated and made special in some way by audio, whether by a layered performance from a single narrator, a brilliantly cohesive full cast, original music, or immersive sound effects. Kevin Wilson’s combination of irreverence, humanity, and charm and Marin Ireland’s flawless execution of it is a match lit in heaven. I found (protagonist) Lillian’s arc relatable and inspiring—despite the absurdity of the circumstance she found herself in. My ADD tends to get the best of me with a lot of audiobooks, but Nothing to See Here had me glued to my headphones, and I finished it within a day.

A spontaneous combustion of fun and heart.

The narrator did an amazing job at reading this. Normally female voices arent good at doing voices of men, but this person did incredible. I could feel the emotion the entire time, not just from the voice of the narrator. The story was extremely enjoyable, with lots of moment that just made me laugh.
Overall an amazing book, I think I’ll be listening to this one again and again.
I love this so much, and would definitely recommend it to anyone

Love the irony, love the narrator. Perfect length. The protagonist is "a bonafide screw-up" (Taffy Brodesser-Akner of the NYT) wonderfully rendered by the narrator, Marin Ireland, a wonderful actress in Sneaky Pete. Why a perfect title? Ah, therein lies the irony. You'll have to listen to it and see if you agree.

Perfect Title

This was a simple and lovely story of the strange places we find love and how simple dreams can come true in the strangest ways.

This story was very entertaining and worthwhile during the beginning and middle, however the ending left much to be desired. It seemed as though there was a lot of story left, but the author decided to abruptly attempt to tie up loose ends and end the story. This book had tons of potential.

Lovely until the ending...

I had put off listening to this because I thought it would be disappointing. I was wrong. The storyline is a refreshing & original, and although some soft/unnecessary parts, overall I enjoyed it. Plus, if you watched Schitt’s Creek you will enjoy putting Stevie’s face to this books main character as she sounds exactly like her and has a similar personality! I really enjoyed this book.

Original at last
