Anyone familiar with H. P. Lovecraft's work knows of the Necronomicon, the black-magic grimoire he invented as a literary prop in his classic horror stories. There have been several attempts at creating this text, yet none stand up to Lovecraft's own descriptions of the Necronomicon...until now. Fans of Lovecraftian magic and occult fiction will delight in Donald Tyson's Necronomicon, based purely within Lovecraft's own fictional universe, the Cthulhu Mythos.
This grimoire traces the wanderings of Abdul Alhazred, a necromancer of Yemen, on his search for arcane wisdom and magic. Alhazred's magical adventures lead him to the Arabian desert, the lost city of Irem, ruins of Babylon, lands of the Old Ones, and Damascus, where he encounters a variety of strange creatures and accrues necromantic secrets.

Also it’s just really smart book, I found myself patting my back several times understanding how what is described matches knowledge of the real world, but filtered through pulp lens of Lovecraft’s era of pulp fiction.
Definitely will listen to it “three times” …
Okay, now I know how to become a necromancer!

I didn't have any issues forgiving the inaccuracies since it is otherwise very well crafted.
I would even go as far as saying that this is one of the works I've found most enjoyable outside of the Lovecraft Circle.
Highly enjoyable from start to finish, with a suitable Narrator.
On the top of my head, I can not find anything other than the inaccuracies to criticize.
The lack of good entries to the C'thulu Mythos makes this an absolute must for any fan, provided you take into account my previous statement. Highly recommended.
Highly recommended, on one condition
