Very Refreshing

A nice change from most books about the Royals. Was very interesting. Really enjoyed.

A confusing chunk of facts

If you are wanting a book that is chronological in order, do not get this book. Every chapter is just miscellaneous stories tossed in and stirred. It is bizarre. "Overall, it's a decent books with a little new info.

Bias against Harry and Megan

Overall was informative but biased. The author was very biased against Harry and Megan. Her portrayal of the events is not based on facts. Charles, William, and Catherine caused them much heartache due to their jealousy. They made it impossible for H&M to fulfill their roles. Their constant planting of negative stories in the press caused threats against H&M and it became dangerous for them to stay.The RF is now so boring and dull. The deceit surrounding Catherine's disappearance from public view was unbelievable. AI videos and pictures were so dishonest and patronizing. I have zero respect for William. He is lazy and does not care about the UK citizens. He looks angry and "enraged" all the time. I believe he is a violent person who is only interested in money and power.

If you're looking for one, take a listen here. Ingrid Seward is a masterful storyteller and her 'royal insider' credentials are impeccable. The book is a skilful untangling of a very complicated relationship.

Much we have heard before

I have read many books on the monarchy and this provided little new information. However, if this is one of your first, it is enjoyable enough.

Not as expected!

I was looking forward to a book about the queen and Charles, This book was nothing more than history I’ve read a dozen times. If I had been honest, the score would have been less!!

Most creditable biography of the modern Windors

I'm obsessed with the British royal family. Both facts and baseless gossip distract me from my own worries and keep my hands off video screens, which hold a dangerous fascination for me. But I have to say that Seward's book is possibly the most creditable Windsor biography yet. I could hardly put it down. It features detailed and sympathetic portraits of the people who influenced King Charles. I disagree with the reader who wrote "Every chapter is just miscellaneous stories tossed in and stirred." I detect a structure to Seward's book that strengthens its coherence rather than detracting from it.

In particular, Seward found in letters, held in public and private collections (as well as other published biographies), references to how the major players thought about various well-known episodes in the 20th and 21st century. She also quotes members of the family and longtime family friends and staff who seem to have had enough faith in Seward to report conversations and incidents never written about before. Or anyway new to people who have never met a member of the family. She also manages to pull credible nuggets out of such questionable accounts as Prince Harry's memoir "Spare."

I've heard Seward talk about the Royal Family on YouTube and found her to be frankly on the side of tradition and the British monarchy. But that sure didn't stop her from laying out the facts that she uncovered, assembled and assessed without seeming to cater, by the time she finished, to any single one of Windsors or to heir detractors.

Refreshing new material

I have read many books about the British royal family especially the queen. This was a fresh new take on King Charles and his mother’s relationship. While there are some anecdotes that I have read before. It was great to hear some that I had never heard, and which gave me a better understanding of this special relationship. 

A Triumph of Sycophancy and Contradiction

This book lost all its credibility in about the 48th time something negative is attributed to Harry. I found myself rolling my eyes so hard near chapter 14 you would’ve thought I was having a stroke. Lots of derails about generational differences (unless it comes to Harry), Nothing on dear William’s affair, Andrew’s “unfortunate association as and with a pedafile and The Duke of York’s penchant for Nazi’s-but woe be to Harry who served in Afghanistan and was actually IN combat-woe be to him that speaketh to Oprah. This book is a great advertisement for Harry’s book though. The author does a fantastic job providing us with the very example of the type of bias, judgement and ill will that Harry tries to shield his family from. Bravo!

Too biased

The parts dealing with Harry were so negative and mean. Even as a child to be so hateful about him. I’m sorry I wasted money on something I hoped would be based more on facts and less on what I can read in newspapers.
