Publisher's summary

Endgame, the explosive book from longtime royal journalist Omid Scobie and author of the international blockbuster Finding Freedom, is a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy—an unpopular king, a power-hungry heir to the throne, a queen willing to go to dangerous lengths to preserve her image, and a prince forced to start a new life after being betrayed by his own family.

Queen Elizabeth II’s death ruptured the already-fractured foundations of the House of Windsor—and dismantled the protective shield around it. With an institution long plagued by antiquated ideas around race, class and money, the monarchy and those who prop it up are now exposed and at odds with a rapidly modernizing world. Relying on his vast experience as a royal reporter and over a decade of conversations and interviews with current and former Palace staff, trusted friends of the royals and even the family members themselves, Scobie pulls back the curtain on an institution in turmoil to show what the monarchy must change in order to survive.

This is the monarchy’s endgame. Do they have what it takes to save it?

Honest and Interesting

It was very direct about what he saw and experienced from his point of view. Not a lot of politics or assumptions. Very black and white, and very respectful. I really enjoyed it.

Good Read

I enjoyed this book and finished in 2 days . I don’t believe anything “ Royal Insiders” say, but Omid did have many receipts.

Honest and not sugar coated

This book exposes some really disturbing issues with the royal family. I am not a fan of the royal family but this was interesting and validating.

Great weaving of plot lines

I really enjoyed how this story wove together the different characters in this Royal story, supporting how different individuals played in the system and how it came together on the larger stage. Even with a lot of the elements being more recent history I enjoyed how things were laid out the way they were.

Good buy British Roals

An insightful description of the final curtain on the English Royals Kabuki Theater.
The reliance on pop culture magazines and what parades as news, "who is wearing what to which event," has finally brought about a collective yawn.
Omit Scobie nails it!
Not a sycophant here but a well researched effort by an independent credible journalist.
