About this listen

In this prequel to the apocalyptic horror series, an overnight gig turns into a nightmare when zombies start coming for blood.

After a long day on the job, house painter Gus Berry is looking forward to relaxing and spending some time with his girlfriend before returning to work the next day. But none of that is going to happen.

Gus’s coworker Benny has found them a painting gig at the local Mollymart East, and it has to be done by morning. If Gus and his crew can complete the work on time, it could mean huge business with a major grocery store chain.

But as Gus and his fellow painters are about to discover, the much-anticipated zombie apocalypse doesn’t start with a bang; it starts on a Monday. And barricading themselves inside a megastore isn’t the end—it’s only the beginning . . .

Keith and R C team up for another heart stopper

Great book with the best narrator on this planet!! I had always wondered how Gus got to where we was, now we know. We also get a look at the type of man Gus was before the SHTF. Great writing I was hooked from the start and having R C Bray narrate for you doesn't hurt either!!

Mountain Man Prequel - great story

This story helps understand what Gus’s life was like before the Apocalypse. It’s a good story with non-stop thrills almost from the beginning. Gus is an interesting character and if there was a little more character building/description that would have been great. However the book does a great job getting you to really like the character, rooting for him to get through each situation. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys the horror genre or action packed story lines. I love audible and the storytellers which really makes my daily work commute go by quickly and looking forward to the ride home to continue the story.

Zombie fare. Nothing special.

I liked it. Bray did a great job. But all these zombie books are the same. This one is like that too. Driving around getting in trouble or running away from horde or stuck inside shopping center etc. it’s overplayed. Won’t go back to this type of book again. But it is entertaining! Just isn’t surprising or original.

Funny and terrifying

This is the greatest zombie series I have ever read. It is laugh out loud funny as well as terrifyingly suspenseful. A great prequel to a great series.

Great Book - Minor Details Changed

Great book, great narrator. My only issue is that there were a few instances where this book was inconsistent with the first book in the series. The example that stands out is the timing of when Gus found his mountain home - in this book he found it days after the out break, in the first book he found it after several months. Seems a bit sloppy.

It was ok. Decent plot and character.

Short and ok. I recommend it but not for full price. Horror story but not sick horror.
