About this listen

Zorian Kazinski has all the time in the world to get stronger, and he plans on taking full advantage of it.

A teenage mage of humble birth and slightly above-average skill, Zorian is attending his third year of education at Cyoria's magical academy. A driven and quiet young man, he is consumed by a desire to ensure his own future and free himself of the influence of his family, resenting the Kazinskis for favoring his brothers over him. Consequently, Zorian has no time for pointless distractions, much less other people's problems.

As it happens, though, time is something he is about to get plenty of.

On the eve of Cyoria's annual summer festival, Zorian is murdered, then abruptly brought back to the beginning of the month, just before he was about to take the train to school. Finding himself trapped in a time loop with no clear end or exit, he will have to look both within and without to unravel the mystery set before him. He does have to unravel it, too, because the loop clearly wasn’t made for his sake, and in a world of magic even a time traveler isn't safe from those who wish him ill.

Fortunately for Zorian, repetition is the mother of learning….

I enjoyed the book, but the sister voice was like chewing on tin foil.

The sister's voice is horrendous

I had almost given up right away after hearing the voices before I actually gave the story a chance but after a few grueling chapters the story got me hooked and before I knew it I was blazing through the chapters. Besides the voices which were upsetting that this is Jack’s second reiteration of these characters and story with “improvement of experience,” it left something to desire. Another grip was the length of the chapters, some spanning 40mins-1hr long, would’ve been nice if they were a tad shorter.
Getting all that out of the way, I enjoyed the story thoroughly and before I knew it the book was over. Now I can’t wait for the next arc.

Almost gave up before it got good

Many people have expressed their disappointment with the narrator’s female voices; however, don’t let that turn you away from this book. The narrator is quite talented overall and I think with a little more feedback from their team, the narrator will be able to fix that in the future. This book is simply too good to pass up because of a couple of poorly done voices.

Amazing storyline with nice complexity

these books take a few chapters to get into and then they become amazing! I will say however that the narrator in general is fabulous, however I HATE some of his voices for characters. He tries accents for a couple characters and it can be hard to even understand him on those. Then the voice of the main characters sister when whining or when waking up the MC...
I HATE the voice and is so abrupt, loud and obnoxious.

fantastic story, mostly great narrating.

I have nothing against the narrators narration. but when he gives voice to any female character it is nails on a chalkboard. the story is so good though I'm going to continue to listen and hope that the narrator gets better at girl voices.

Story good, voice dialogue bad

Great story and a interesting take on the time loop but man those younger female voices where rough. if not for the positive reviews I don't think I would have made it past the frist 2hrs of the book.

Narrator please work on female voices.

In fantasy, you often find unavoidable loopholes in the world building as authors usually dont have a strong technical or socioeconomic background to weave into their story. This author does however, and in spades!

Every facet of the system is fleshed out and effects the limitations that shape the main character's decisions throughout the story. No macguffins, no unobtainium, no hot fixes. You better believe if the author mentions something offhand in chapter 1 and 2, it will effect the mc's situation in chapter 25. I honestly dont know how someone can have such a fleshed out clockwork of a magic and societal system AND have the ability and tenacity to write coherent and logical story. The hats someone would have to wear to achieve this is honestly staggering!

Kudos to the author, and thank you for your work! This has been one of the most enjoyable fantasy novels I have partook in in a long time.

Airtight Magic and Time System

The complexity in the magic system and fleshed out world and political systems make this one of the best fantasy stories in a long time.
