On the third, he began to notice a worrying trend. And almost dies.

Overcoming the wilds is just the first step in his journey; the society of Elatra is incredibly hostile to humans, having just come off of a devastating war that left over half the population dead, and getting the locals to trust the last human in existence is a struggle in and of itself. Between being powerless in a world that hates him and suffering under a System that is altering his mind in unwanted ways, Rob quickly finds that monsters aren't nearly the biggest thing to worry about.

As far as LitRPG isekai adventures go, Rob drew the short straw in many ways. But that's okay - all the bullshit in the world won't keep him down. He'll carve out a place in this world with his bare hands if necessary. He'll survive, and then he'll thrive.

Whether anyone wants him to or not.

Read it When it Was Being Written

Listened to it as of just seconds ago. It’s good. It’s part of a series so everything isn’t entirely resolved and there are doubtless Questions you’ll have at the end. Even so, the ride is undoubtedly worth it.

The only criticism I could give is that unlike with the printed version we have to hear the narration of the character sheet and that can be a bit trying especially since we get one at the end of every chapter. I tend to hit the thirty second speedup for those moments since I already know what they’ll say for the most part.

Beyond that? Solid story, solid performance. Kamikazepotato spins a most excellent yarn. 😁👍

Great book, bad reviews

I was hesitant to get this book cuz of reviews explaining the hatred for humans and how the main character had no reactions or issues with this.

Not true at all. Not only does the author go over why humans were hated but into detail about why it makes sense to continue to be afraid

Great book starting book 3 next

Story Driven

I loved this book a focus on story, world building, character development, RPG elements, amazing voice acting, a tear Jerker even can't wait to start the next book

Got to be in my top ten. Just liked the plot,plenty of action, and shows the absurdity of prejudice people/cultures.
Can’t wait to get into the second book..!

Totally worth your time

I really enjoyed this story. I was engaged entirely. Laughed throughout. Enjoyed overall. Would recommend.

Don't judge by the cover

I bought the first book in a sale then spent two credits to binge on the next two books. The best compliment I can say about this series is that I care about all of the characters by the third book. I've also read many LitRPG books and at first, the first 10 minutes read like it was going to be similar to "The Land" but to my delight, this one turned out very differently and is much better than the mess "The Land" turned out to be. This story is not as tropey as the others and does have a good deal of unique points that I liked. The low star reviews seem pedantically picky but at least the overall high star rating is still accurate.

Human teams up with elves to fight monster horde

I enjoyed this book. Its a standard litrpg, guy goes into new world, learns the system, gets stronger and so on. In this world, all humans are addicted to leveling, and all the other races basically committed genocide against all humans. This causes problems as the elves immediately attack the MC. So in a way its interesting because it makes you wonder could a person make peace and help a world of war criminals who killed people you have never known? There was one dragon who forced this action against humans so maybe this will be resolved in a future book. The performance was good.

5 Stars should be a bit rarer than it is on here.

I enjoyed this series quite a bit. I do not like human MCs. I hate elves, in general, and I dislike melee MCs as well....all that being said, I still listened to this book and plan to continue the series. It was an enjoyable listen. Neil did great with narration...aside from saying scimiTER instead of scimiTAR about a million times. >D

I can tell that I am going to get sick of the MC being ostracized for his race the entire series. The people being wary of him is cool, but the constant racial tension is tiresome.

I love hearing stats and what upgrades, but the author should pay more attention to repeating stats at the start of the chapter without change from the consistent (and much enjoyed) end of chapter updates. One chapter starts off with him looking at every stat that was just read seconds beforehand. A simple "MC checks over his character sheet and is pleased/displeased with his increases." and move on. That repetition will be a major turn off for a lot of listeners.
