About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans comes a hot romance about two strangers and their race to fall in love.

If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction - until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough...as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.

What a surprise!

First off, Jacob was great as always and made Luke sound exactly how I imagined. Meg was pretty good. It was my first time listening to her and her tone gave a really good visual of Penelope. Together I felt like I was watching the reality show. That’s a wow factor for sure.

Katy Evans manages to make this reality show Million Dollar Marriage work in book form. The cast of characters and challenges worked so well with this opposites attract love story. I was pleasantly surprised since I am not a fan of reality shows. A very good listen for me.

4.5 Stars

This may have more to do with my mood at the moment, but Million Dollar Marriage hit the spot for me. Fake/arranged relationships are my jam on any given day, and this one added in some banter and a bit of enemies to lovers, so I knew it would at least be good. While I'm not generally a fan or celebrities, particularly actors, this one didn't annoy me, and I found the reality tv show to make it fun. As a fan of The Amazing Race, the challenges here often made me smile. The writing was good and the narration by Jacob Morgan (listened to with KU's Read & Listen) was even better. Overall, this book just made me happy, and I needed it right now.

Luke and Nell’s story

Did their story really end that way?
What way you ask.
Sorry, you’ll have to read/listen to Katy Evan’s latest. Let’s just say our H and h got a HEA but, it wasn’t what I was expecting. Leave it to this author to surprise the listener.
And speaking of listening; Jacob Morgan is the perfect Luke and while Meg Sylvan is new to me I look forward to listening to other books she has narrated.

Great story & Great & Narration.

I’m not a huge fan of reality that competition shows but I really liked the depiction of it in this story. Penelope & Luke’s story was a good one. Definitely give this book a listen!

Awesome listen!

I really loved the premise and the storytelling. I could actually see something like this happening. It was a new to me female narrator and she was fantastic. Jacob Morgan was fabulous as always.

Favorite book of the year

As my title suggests, this has been my favorite book. I loved everything about it and how both characters made each other better when together. They each had their strengths and weaknesses but together they could conquer anything. I really want this made into a movie. Great book!

One of my favorite books ever!!!

This is the second book in the million dollars duet (each book is about a different couple, but it is recommended to listen in order)
Take the reality series "Married at First Sight", "Survivor", "The Amazing Race" add to them the bad-boy bartender and the introverted student and you have a winning recipe for an amazing book!!!!
If I thought I was blown away by the first book, I was hooked and I fell in love with the second book😍

I'll start with a confession - I can't stand reality TV!
Everything seems fake, addicted and superficial
I don't know why this book made me want to watch a reality show of this type, but the author made me fall in love with each episode again😍
Luke, 28 years old, owner of a bar he inherited which is in danger of closing
Penelope (Nell), 25 years old, a student with a doctorate (or mega brain for short) who must find a way to pay her school fees and fast as possible.
The only thing these two have in common is that they are in serious debt and need the money as soon as possible!
They come across an advertisement for a reality show whose prize is a million dollars💸
The rules are as follows: couples are chosen, get married and compete against the couples with diverse tasks (physical, mental, etc.).
There are no more extreme opposites than Nell and Luke, just like the sun and the moon, Luke the bad boy and Nell the good and introverted girl, and yet they take themselves out of comfort zone together and both with a goal in mind - to get the million 💸💸💸

Among the lighthearted, funny, fun and sweet books I've heard!
I laughed a lot, I felt like I was with them in the race going through all the stages from the initial part of the unpleasantness, the fights, moments of breakdown, moments of openness and honesty, explorations, falling in love, crises and the most worthwhile victory in the book🤍
I totally recommend these 2 amazing books! I wish more readers will fell in love with them too 💖

"Sans toi, je ne suis rien."
"Without you, I am nothing."
And on that note, I'm going to look for a French lover because the end of the book made me jealous of Extra 🤣😍🤣
