Bold new perspectives
I am impressed by the truths and lies explained by the author; all very eye opening. I hate how it reads like an infomercial or a soap opera (more about this in the next chapter). And when he does get to some final answers, after spending the whole book backing his reasoning with good scientific evidence, he fails us by justifying his extreme recommendations by saying essentially, "It works for me and so it should work for you." I'm sorry that's only anecdotal evidence or a study based on a population of n=1. And for as much as he accused the medical industry of being financially biased, his final recommendations seem to be very biased towards things that he promotes. Almost seems like he's got something to gain from several of them.
As negative as this review may seem, the book really did present a lot of good information and will make you rethink how you eat and what real or fake benefits (or harm) there may be to the medicines you take.

Common sense explanation of metabolism
This is probably one of the most important books I’ve ever read. The explanation of how foods effect metabolism and insulin production/resistance was logical and eye opening. I have already bought the book for both my kids, son in law and wife. I’ve been involved in coaching and conditioning teenagers for about 30 years and I had been growing increasingly sad regarding the average shape kids were in when they came to me. This book gives me hope that perhaps we can start to swing the pendulum back in the other direction…thanks Dr. Lufkin
