About this listen

A deadly secret can't stay buried forever....

Revenge. It's the only thing that will help Anya Best sleep at night. The serial killer who murdered her sister is on the loose, and Anya will stop at nothing to put him behind bars - even use herself as bait to lure him out of hiding. But she can't do this alone.

Private investigator Heath Jones' job is to bring bastards to justice. This time it's personal. He knew the Copper Killer's latest victim, so when her sister asks for his help, he's all in. But when Anya uses the media to taunt the killer, she exposes Heath's identity, putting them both in jeopardy. Now secrets buried long ago are coming to light, and the forces determined to destroy him are watching Heath's every move, waiting to exact their own revenge. And they'll use anything and anyone to get to Heath.

With twists and turns that will take your breath away, Lethal Lies is sexy, action-packed suspense at its very best from New York Times best-selling author Rebecca Zanetti.

Heath the protector and Anya the Brave

Rebecca Zanetti is a master of weaving thrilling stories full of suspense, romance and mystery. When you begin her books, be prepared to get caught up in a sexy romantic suspense with an incredibly developed storyline. She is an auto-buy for me because her books have everything I love, family, romance, suspense, mystery, and most importantly, a happy ending. My favorite thing in her stories is the unshakable bond of family loyalty. It is really the glue that makes the characters lovable. They have this all for one, one for all attitude that is so endearing. My only complaint was the narrator often made Anya sound whiny whereas I didn't feel that when I read the paperback.

Book 2 in the explosive Blood Brother series, was no exception. Remember, this series is the spin-off from the Sin Brother series and contrary to what some say, this series SHOULD be read in order to truly appreciate the character’s journey as well as the underlying plot because the same villains have been plaguing the various main characters.

The prior book, Deadly Silence, introduced a serial killer dubbed the Copper Killer because he hunted red heads and the Lost Bastards Detective Agency (Ryker, Heath and Denver) were on his tail. Also, investigating the case was a profiler, Anya Best, a professor in criminal psychology. The serial killer has been sending her letters showing that he was fixated on her but Anya has no clue who he could be.

Heath Jones was working with FBI agent Loretta Best, Anya’s older sister, who became the killer’s latest victim. So, Heath decided he would protect Anya and avenge Loretta. It was clear the author was setting the stage for this book’s main couple.
I really enjoyed Anya because she was strong, smart and capable. She didn’t let her fear stop her from trying to figure out the killer. It also amused me that she was trying to shrink the Heath because those brothers have so many issues and secrets. Heath is an alpha male with a tender heart. He saves animals for crying out loud. How can you not love a strong, capable man who is so conscious of the pain and suffering of those who are wounded? Heath and Anya worked as a couple because they had this simmering chemistry. Their relationship was an insta-attraction, not necessarily insta-love because Heath fought himself because of the past monsters (Dr. Madison and Sheriff Cobb). The danger, intrigue, suspense and being on the run certainly created an atmosphere that would be sexually charged.

Rebecca Zanetti delivered an intense romance with lots of moving parts. If you enjoy series like Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalkers series, you will love this one as well.

Another fun read!

Same narrator as the first book. Narrator continues to do a great job! Quality performance! Entertaining listening!

Like the first book, this read has good passion and some fun action. Liked that the serial killer storyline is in the forefront of this book, and I like the overarching storyline with the brothers being created to be super soldier types. Absolutely can’t stand the villains in this story; less of their POV would be awesome. Anya’s sister was murdered by the serial killer, so she has the bright idea to make herself bait for the killer. Her plan involves dragging Heath into it, so she tells the news that he is her fiancé, which isn’t great because he and his brothers have an evil psycho after them; well a few evil psychos after them, so they need to keep out of the public eye. The story moves a bit too slowly and I still don’t really connect with the characters, but the writing is still good and the story is an entertaining one. Looking forward to the final book!

Narrator detracts from the story

I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti's series, but this particular Narrator makes me want to pull my hair out - Karen White is too breathy, too dramatic, portrays the females as whiny. She has the capacity to sound relatively normal, so it makes no sense to me why she continues this pattern of inflection and tone with the dialogue between the characters. For me, this narrator detracts from the story. I now actively avoid audiobooks with her which is a darn shame.

The story is a good one, I like the Blood Brothers and Sin brothers series and agree with other reviewers that its best to read the series in order. Just no more audiobooks by Karen White for me.

Loving the series

I might like this series more than the Sin Brothers. I didn't think that was possible.

I can't wait to see how it ends.

Thrilling, danger on the edge, exciting and passio

I totally loved this story it brings so much power, danger, thrills and twist that holds you attention. I really never worked out who the serial killer was until the author wanted me to. My heart broke when her sister died I kept thinking may, just maybe she would make it. The author tells the story with so much emotion that I felt like I was there. Anya will go to any lengths to find the person who not only killed her sister but others like her. The killer wants her but is willing to take another to see if the pain, needs and wants can be filled by them, only to find they cannot. Heath is pulled in to the mix when one of the victims family ask for help. He likes to stay on the side lines but Anya isn’t going to let him, before either know it she opens her big mouth and puts him right in the middle of her mess. Which gives Heath no choice but to be by her side trying to keep her safe. He must deal with all of this why people from his past is hunting him and his brothers for their own gain. What follows is an explosive plot that will keep you guessing, smiling and in shock over the events. You get to see two people fall in love, watch their passion grow as danger over takes them.

The narrator does a wonderful job pulling the listener in with true emotion that makes you hold your breath and closing you eyes. You feel every pain, passion and thrill the characters feel. Her performance is outstanding, she puts so much emotion into this story, her character voices are wonderful, you always know who is taking and what they are feeling. I really enjoyed each character and how she brings them to life. There are no background noises, no repeating of words and no volume changes. The music at the beginning and end goes well with the story. I did think it was a little loud at the start but it doesn’t last long. I look forward to listening to more of her work. She knows how to hold you on the edge, making you feel the excitement.

I truly loved this book and plan to buy the other audios in this series. I have to know what happens to the brothers and will they all find the woman that were made for them. I love how they have different powers and how they use them for good. If you want a truly exciting listen this is one you will have to listen to. The author holds you in the palm of her hand taking you on a thrilling, exciting adventure that will keep you captivated.

Horrible Narrator!

I love this author but this narrator is beyond horrible! This is the second book that I’ve listened to that she’s narrated. As with other reviewer‘s, the heroine sounds whiny and childish. It’s extremely annoying. It’s so bad that in the future I will look to see if this narrator is engaged in the story and will not purchase if so.

Good story

I liked the overall story. However the narrator wasn't very good. She made the heroine's voice sound very whiny and annoying. I've listened to the other book in this series and thought the same thing.

This Series and The Sin Brothers are the Bomb

I love this series. I totally agree with other reviewers, you will only enjoy this series, to the fullest, if you read/listen to The Sin Brothers' series first.

Both of these groups of men come from a secret lab in which they were genically enhanced embryos designed to grow up to be the ultimate soldiers. The two groups did not grow up together or in the same way but, together, they form their own family. They are all being chased by the evil people who bred them. Their ultimate goal is to free themselves from the ghosts of their pasts so they all can live their own, "happily ever after, " with the women they love.

These books are full of action, suspense and romance all wrapped up by a group of alpha males and the women that are strong enough to tame them. Worth every dang credit!
