meh

the book was ok at best. predictable characters, definitely rolled my eyes several times. the reader had a whiney voice that drove me nuts. I use my audible for my hour commute each day, this served that purpose but overall not my favorite.

Blood Brothers take the Sin Brothers another level

Honestly, I don't prefer Karen White to narrate these romantic suspense. But in this book, she slays. Her voice for the characters, the various actions scenes were spot on. I listened to this book non-stop. I am so glad that I went ahead and preordered this one because it was one of the best books I've listened to all year. I think this narrator has finally won me over.

I loved the plot/writing and awesome narration by Karen White. Zanetti always gives fascinating characters. Here, the heroine Zara was another compelling one. She was bravery, smart and had a big heart. I love strong heroines and she was more than a match for Ryker. I think she definitely inherited all of that from her grandmother. Ryker Jones was a typical Zanetti hero. Alpha male, who is a protector and fiercely loyal to his loved ones. He is possessive, strong, intelligent, mysterious and just so sexy.

There was a lot going on in this book. There is a serial killer. There are three brothers who are hiding from a past and that past is catching up with them. Zara works for a law firm that represents unsavory people and thanks to a new case, Zara has gotten in the middle of some unpleasant people. Then throw in Ryker's situation where Ryker and his two brothers were being blackmailed and there just bad guys all around. Yet it is obvious all these single threads had a connection, it just a matter of connecting the dots.

I know many people say you don't have to read Sin Brothers, but I strongly urge you to read that series first. After all, you'd have to know Dr. Madison and the Commander and the Grey Brothers to truly appreciate the tie-in with this series. Greg and his subplot also would make more sense with the background from that series.
This book was such an exhilarating ride and I couldn't put it down. I loved the characters, the story and I am ecstatic for where this series is going. I can't wait for book 2 and the introduction of more "brothers".

Eh

It started out with real promise. Then it was like the author couldn't make up her mind on where she was going to take the storyline so she took us all over! I felt that she wanted to add some minor paranormal mixed with a serial killer and that would have worked. However she I feel she struggles tying the heroine into that plot so she keeps with genetic engineering of humans? Without saying it?
Just an ok book.

Good writing, entertaining story!

The narrator does a great job! Quality performance! Entertaining listening!

I should’ve loved this, but I just liked it; I just didn’t connect with any of the characters. Things also move a bit too slowly; I could’ve done without the chapters with the baddie’s pov. I couldn’t stand the baddies in this story; so very disgusting. Do like the overall premise though and there’s good spice. Ryker and Zara have had a no strings relationship going on for awhile, but really, there are strings. Ryker has tons of secrets about his past, so he keeps people from getting too close for fear of them being in danger. When Zara finds herself in danger, Ryker will do everything he can to protect her. There’s danger coming from multiple sources, so these two have their work cut out for them! I was interested in the serial killer storyline, but that isn’t taken on in this book; it’s in the next one. I was a bit disappointed in that, but there is still an interesting scenario with another killer on the loose. Also, I liked how that story ended. As for the characters, Zara has a good heart, but unfortunately, it makes her do idiotic things. Ryker is a gruff secretive guy; he has a wild story of a life. He was a butt at times, but I love his protective nature. This is a spin-off of one of Zanetti’s other series, so you may already know what is going on with these brothers, but this story does work on its own if you don’t. Some things are solved in this book, but there is a overarching storyline that hasn’t been solved yet. I am interested in reading how Ryker’s brother’s stories turn out, and to read about the big bad being taken out. Plus, I really enjoy Zanetti’s writing style.

I always wish her books were longer

I enjoyed this first book in this spin-off series of the Sin Brothers. I wish the story would have continued with more interaction between both sets of brothers. I just felt like the story suddenly stopped. I'm sure this is to set up the events of the next book but I am an impatient reader/listener . Most of the time, I won't even start a series until all if the books or a good number of the books are available.

I will mention, as other reviewers have, that even though the summary says that this is a stand alone series, I strongly recommend that you read/listen to the Sin Brother series before you start this series. if you don't, you will not understand the motives of several characters and may even be confused about the setting and won't even understand the motives and history of the "PROTECT" group. Actually, if I hadn't enjoyed the Sin Brothers series first, I'm pretty sure I would be lost during 60% of this book.

solid 4 stars

I really liked it on all fronts. the story was good, descriptive, exciting. I'm not sure why everyone is hating on the narrator. she's not perfect and has odd pauses sometimes but for the most part she's a solid narrator.

#InstaReview: If you have read Sin Brothers then you can bet you will like this too. I admit I am more excited about the upcoming brother's than Ryker because he got on my nerves a wee bit. I loved Zara and it took awhile before I thought Ryker was worthy. That being said the action was on point and the mystery was good.

Narration Thoughts:Karen White did the narration and she did great. Her an Zanetti make a great duo. She has the pacing needed for this high octane type of read.

I totally recommend the book and narration!

Needs More Adventure and Mystery

Love narrator Karen White! She personifies the Sin brothers and now the Blood brothers.
A must read is Mattie’s story, Sin Brothers, my fave!
This story continues the saga, but author has relied on way to much on romance in the bedroom, truck, and bathroom instead of the wonderful mystery and adventure as in the Sin Brothers series. Even though I want to know how it ends, with Madison, not sure if I can handle the editing in this series. I love a great core romance, but author seemed to not know how to expand the adventure so she just adds another romance scene when she gets bogged down.
Don’t get me wrong, Ryker is as macho as it gets, but It doesn’t make up for very little story development.
I love 12 yr old Greg’s dialogue and his voracious appetite. Author used good old fashion, feed the men breakfast! That scene was great. Our heroine has grit, but you don’t know where she got her training! That’s what I mean about the editing.
I do use the 1.25x speed to match the author’s intent.
I will have to investigate the remaining 2 books via the Amazon reviews since the new Audible changes are not helping much.

Love Zanetti ....please find another narrator!

Zanetti knows how to do alpha male hotness, her stories have great characters and strong antagonists that drive the plot in a way that keeps you at the edge of your seat. The narrator however, did everything in her power to make the characters sound as annoying as possible. She needs to admit that she CANNOT do male voices.
