Brought to you by Penguin.

Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before.

'Neighbours... hah. People'd live for ages side by side, nodding at one another amicably on their way to work, and then some trivial thing would happen and someone would be having a garden fork removed from their ear.'

When the neighbours in question are the proud empires of Klatch and Ankh-Morpork, those are going to be some pretty large garden tools indeed. Of course, no-one would dream of starting a war without a perfectly good reason...such as a 'strategic' piece of old rock in the middle of nowhere.

It is after all every citizen's right to bear arms to defend their own. Even if it isn't technically their own. And even if they don't have much in the way of actual weaponry. As two armies march, Commander Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch faces unpleasant foes who are out to get him... and that's just the people on his side. The enemy might be even worse.

The Discworld novels can be listened to in any order but Jingo is the fourth book in the City Watch series.

It’s probably just me, but I miss the old narrator. Nigel is the one I grew up listening to and it’s weird hearing three new voices, but not his. Good satire on war and racism though.

Great story, new narration

I’ve been a fan of Ji go since I first read it in 1999; current events seem to keep it relevant every few years. It may not have the strongest supporting cast, but the main story bridges Feet to of Clay to the much more complex Fifth Elephant, and the Colon/Nobby/Vetinari story is wonderful.
Unfortunately, I did not care for this new Audio recording. The reader made odd choices for the secondary guardsmen and women making them indistinguishable and uninteresting, except for the absurd Rasta Detritus. The main cast sounded more like imitations of popular movie characters (Vetinari as Snape?) and Vimes was a series of grumbling growls- perhaps not incorrect for the character, but challenging as a main pov. The performance was very ponderous and s l o w ; I needed to tweak playback to 1.25x to make the conversations seem realistic and the narrative move along. Not the strongest of the new editions.

Classic Pratchett, not the best performance

Great story plus great jokes interspersed in it. And the punes! Can’t forget the punes ;)

Another wonderful Pratchett book!

This is about human nature .True, and funny. The narrator makes this too dramatic. The pace is too slow to me, and, it seems that he needs to breath after every three words.

Great story, wrong narrator.

Narrator emphasizes the gruff and gritty nature of the books, which in some cases adds interesting dynamics. Maybe missing a little silliness and charm of the older versions, but still a wonderful audio experience. Pratchett’s unique insight and humor still shine through in this captivating action novel. Nobby nobs and Fred colon will always be an incredible vehicle for comedy. Can’t recommend the night watch series of discworld enough.

Different take on narration, still great

Another great Discworld story, and the narration is fine. But much like other things, comparison is everything. Briggs is the voice of Discworld to me, and I miss him terribly on a story like this. Would have added so much to the title.

Missing Stephen Briggs

I don’t know if it was actually written in the book this way but the book was interrupted by footnotes that took away from the experience

It was great, narration could be better

Fantastic book with a fantastic performance. A great entry point for disc world and Terry Pratchett

Hilarious

I loved the narration. The main performer has done a fabulous job creating a distinct voice for the multitude of characters.

Another great addition to the city watch.
