Publisher's summary

In addition to strength, steel, and courage, a hero discovers he's in need of a friend, in the first installment of a daring and dangerous fantasy adventure.

When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere.

Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway. Naturally, Daniel is classified as a "hero," while Orrin is—also naturally—relegated to the fantasy equivalent of "bleh." Nothing new there.

But in this realm populated with lethal foes both inhuman and inescapable, sticking together matters more than ever, and soon Daniel and Orrin will discover more about themselves—and each other—than either one thought possible. In fact, Orrin just might find the confidence and strength to become something other than your average sidekick . . .

The first volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than 600,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Great system and character dynamic

I really Liked the relationship between the hero and main character. As the magic system was very cool. Sad it will take a while until the next comes out

Excellent Narration

Narration was well done, and the story didnt fall into the stereotype of power progression without consequences.

Great story, questionable reading

I am a fan of the adventures of Orrin and Daniel. I see a ton of potential for where the story will go. I pray that the reader ceases to interject a prerecorded "System" voice over character dialog. I tried to get used to it, but every time someone says a class or skill it interrupts the flow of the scene and sledgehammers you with some system stuff. The character voices were amazing, easily able to identify individual characters just off of who is speaking at the time.

Great LRPG!

loved the story and narration, the only thing I found annoying was the monotone reference to the skills and classes everytime they are mentioned. It doesn't add any value to the story and becomes a distraction in the storytelling after the first couple of chapters. After awhile the anticipation of it became more of my focus than the story. Loved the character development and as always Nick made it amazing with his narration.

Stick with it

I was so close to returning this book so many times do to the “announcer” voice that kept interrupting the flow, but I’m glad I didn’t.
This is a fun book with an interesting MC twist. I like the overall story and I can’t wait for the next book to come out in August.

good story but

like the story the only thing that bugs me is the robotic voice being inserted on and off in the middle of sentences.

Pretty good

I liked it except the SKILL and SPELL names were jarring and broke the flow.

wonderfully fantasy story

only criticism i have is the author seems to have a problem with distances ie in one instance it takes them half an hour of walking to get from the wall to the forests edge then the next thing you know the bad guys are exiting the forest and making it half way to the walls in three steps. then it states how Orrin is proud of jogging 4 miles in just under an hour...... but 4miles per hours is pretty much a brisk walk or an extremely slow jog.
