About this listen

Some secrets should have stayed buried...

Lucy Mitchell was abandoned by her mother and left to fend for herself in foster care. This is where she met Amber and Josh, but living in a strict foster home brought fears of its own. Fears that brought Amber and Lucy closer together.

Amber and Lucy formed a pact. They said they would be friends for life and often found solace in the local woods to escape from their foster carer, Linda. This was a place they used to hide together, but when one day only one girl returns from the woods, a note is found saying that Amber has run away.

Fifteen years later and Lucy is busy planning the wedding of her dreams with Josh until a body is found, then the trauma of Lucy’s past comes back to haunt her.

Tensions mount as Lucy, Josh and Linda all have secrets to hide and distrust makes them question each other's story around Ambers disappearance. As the body's identity is soon to be exposed, life for Lucy takes a terrifying turn for the worst when a new note appears saying Lucy is next!

Brilliant British thriller!

After a recent disappointing listen before, this is one of the best in my Audible library. Author JA Andrews is accompanied by Clare Corbett, Dario Coates and Howard Ward; their vocals are precisely perfect as they bring this intricate and complexellent offering to vivid life. Surprises around every corner, never a dull moment and a shocker of an ending that had my jaw on the floor. Highly recommended and, yes, l on the rooftop, shrieking “EPIC, I say, Epic, Epic, Epic!”

Disappointing

Having been captivated and enthralled by the author's "Behind Her Smile" this book was highly disappointing. Boring, disjointed, endlessly repetitive, with two-dimensional characters I cared nothing about. and a couple of meandering 'plot lines' that were not even worth trying to follow through the morass of repetitive words, words, words.

At one point, I checked how many hours were left, and realized I was through 75% of the book and still didn't know what the heck the point of it all was leading to - nor did I care.

In any case - the narration is good. They did their best. Wish I could say the same for the author.
