About this listen

Ethan Carter has always lived an ordinary life—until a devastating accident changed everything. Waking up after weeks in a coma, Ethan struggles to reconcile the vivid, haunting dreams he experienced: golden threads unraveling reality, an enigmatic woman named Calla pleading for help, and a mysterious diary that seemed to write his fate. But as Ethan returns to his life with his devoted fiancée Isabel and the support of his family, strange echoes of those dreams begin to bleed into the real world.

At first, it’s subtle—a shimmer of gold in the corner of his vision, the hum of something familiar beneath the surface of the air. Then, a face he could never forget appears: Calla, no longer a figment but flesh and blood. Ethan begins to question everything. Did the coma create the diary, or did something far darker use his unconscious mind to rewrite his life? As he searches for answers, Ethan is pulled deeper into a web of secrets, where reality and dream blur, and his choices hold consequences beyond what he can understand.

Torn between Isabel, the woman who waited for him, and Calla, the ghost of a fractured world he cannot escape, Ethan must face the ultimate question: Is fate indeed written, or can it be unraveled and rewoven? Handwritten Fate is a haunting, character-driven story about love, loss, and the thin threads that bind us to the lives we know—and the ones we might have lived.

This is more a review of the narrator

I will start by stating that I picked up this book because one of my best friends narrated this book. I cannot rightly say that I am unbiased, but I do listen to a LOT of audiobooks. It's effectively the only way I read. I hear many masters of their craft and Aaron LaPacz is not one of them. He is new to this, relatively speaking, and it shows. He has a lot of work to do before he is on the same level as people like Tim Gerard Reynolds, Simon Vance, Michael Kramer, and Kate Reading. That being said, Aaron has been a stage actor for quite some time and this isn't his first rodeo when it comes to conveying emotion through his voice. He does a great job considering this is his first novel reading, and I look forward to seeing how he grows as a narrator. The few minor mistakes he makes in this reading are minor compared to the things that he does really well. Give him a shot. Everyone needs to start somewhere! As for the book itself, it's worth the read! The story is short and sweet, characters compelling, and the plot gets tied up neatly and ends in a satisfying way. Enjoy!
