About this listen

When a woman overhears a murder plot on her morning commute, she races to stop it—only to be pulled in deeper than she ever could have imagined.

Amy Nichols (Lizzy Caplan) was an FBI agent with a dogged need to protect everyone—until that instinct caused her to mishandle a crisis, lose innocent lives, and lose her job. Now a civilian working in private security, that mistake still haunts her.

One morning on the commuter train, she overhears a young couple plotting a murder. Ignoring warnings from her family and friends, Amy’s instinct to protect and serve compels her to investigate. But the further she goes, the more she finds her own life in danger.

Filled with mystery, suspense, and more twists and turns than a rail line, The Commuter is a gripping thriller by James Patterson, the world’s best-selling author.

Exciting!

I really enjoy this audio the way the I need to know what happened next, I was very amused that it’s was the least suspected twist. Great job. Great work.

Much enjoyed

I liked how the story moved. I was always excited to hear and see what the next thing was going to be. It was fast moving. I enjoyed that.

I loved it!

The most exciting audiobook I think I've ever heard. Very Hitchcock. Sharp twists and turns. I hope they do another season.

Could Not Stop

Loved this story. I’m a big Lizzy Caplan fan. But like most James Patterson books it’s a page turner or can’t stop listening audiobook.

Mediocre story but great performance

The narration was absolutely spot on. Unfortunately, the main character was grating on my nerves the whole time with the ridiculous decisions she continued to make. I kept saying why on earth worth would a former FBI agent be doing that! I don't regret listening to the story, but I am glad it was free

How stupid can a MC be

I am so tired of stories that depends on main characters doing stupid things. in this story MCs career and mental health suffered because she was stupid and didn't listen to anyone several years ago.

So in the present she continues to do stupid stuff (open an office door, see a body bludgeoned to death, ppl come fast ofc, then run away... she used to be FBI... ). I guess this time it will end well...

Yikes.

I listen to books while I am walking my dog, cleaning house etc. so I can't really ask for my 2.5 hours back because I was interested enough to continue t listen while I got everything done. That being said, it's so not worth it.

I adore Lizzie Caplan and I fear she may have been held at gunpoint to take this role. You've never heard of a less intelligent former FBI agent than her character in this book. It could have been an interesting & compelling story if the writers gave her a brain. Instead, they gave her a backstory of a series of terrible decisions that cost hundreds of lives and a fragile state of mind after her firing that discredits her now. That part is glossed over until a later chapter that gives more detail that makes you wonder whether she ever should have been an agent at all.

The twists are fun but every decision is painfully stupid. The characters are one-dimensional. Her interactions with other officers investigating and her own actions trying to track down the killer(s) made me cringe as I was listening! Her husband should have sued for better lines. Overall, embarrassing. What a shame.
