About this listen

Ard is hunkering down in the mountains for the winter as the war cools with the snow.

That means it’s time to practice his magic and stay out of trouble. Well… Ard might not be entirely proficient at the last one. At the very least, he’s staying away from the city and his penchant for annoying other people.

Except that doesn’t work out so well when he’s forced to attend a ball held by the Brighthavens, though they’ll certainly regret forcing Ard’s attendance.

No matter how it goes down, you’re sure that Ard is going to have as much fun with it as he can.

Performance team is perfet again

Jessica and Chris do excellent work i have listened to many of there books together and even picked a few i may not have just for the narration, the small editing flaw in the book is of course not the fault of the performers and what i herd of the small blurp was them being polite to each other.

the third book in this series and it does not disapoint, i really like the humor and the dynamic between the lead and is anchors, the lead character is also written as a person whos eye are opening to a wider world and he is growing as a person making the tough calls an thankfully loosing or getting his teeth kicked in, yeah plot armor is a thing but you know reasons
look forward to the rest of the story

Good but....

the story is good but the relationships are completely predictable. with the one woman per book method Bruce has adopted makes it so you know what is & what isn't going to happen in every book. the amount of spicy scenes is severely lacking. SSV & Mana series didn't have this issue.
on a positive note, I'm glad to see the MC is maturing and being less of a DS.

Still entertaining

Would have liked a little more in royal politics and the return of a certain death mage and this certainly felt a little soft on plot. Still enjoyed it.

Tired of the whiney voice and juvenile attempt at humor.

Halfway through the book and at this point I really hope someone kills the MC. Don’t know if it’s the writing, narration or a combination of the two but it’s worse than nails on a chalkboard. The constant high pitched voice at every sarcastic attempt at humor really takes away from the story. I see absolutely zero character development from book 1 to this point. You can only say someone acts a certain way to protect themselves before it seems like that’s just their personality. I usually like the author and voice actors normally but for some reason this one is grating on my nerves…

solid

Character development was great. Not just an MC with OP power. He still has to develop his skill to overcome challenges.

Amazing!

The voice acting on this book is so amazing! It’s not just two people reading but two people acting. The book is fantastic and I can’t wait for the next installment

good story

I like the two voices in this men can NOT do female voices...period
I'm not sure if the Mc is written to speak like Willem Shatner? or if the guy readying the mcs part wanted to imitate bill ? but ..please don't it's extremely irritating
