About this listen

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.

During EMDR therapy sessions, you relive traumatic or triggering experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs your eye movements.

EMDR is thought to be effective because recalling distressing events is often less emotionally upsetting when your attention is diverted. This allows you to be exposed to the memories or thoughts without having a strong psychological response.

In this audiobook, you will learn about:

  • The history of EMDR
  • The basics of EMDR therapy
  • The mechanisms underlying EMDR therapy
  • The implications for psychotherapy
  • And much more!

Author's subjective assessment, not toolbox

I don't think this is a specific EMDR toolbox.
It's mostly what the author thinks of it and how she can redo Shapiro's theory, based on her own comprehension of PTSD and similar psychological difficulties.
The first chapter is interesting as it puts in evidence how Erickson, Freud and other's theories, psychoanalysis and psychiatry have evolved and been transformed in the last 30 years.

But it's kind of disconnected from the subject.
Then comes pejorative assessment of Shapiro's work.
So I decided to stop right there and then.
I was looking for concrete tools.
I give a 3 on 5 still, because it's informative; just not on EMDR

I sincerely think the title is misleading.

False Information

This book wastes at least and hour and a half of your life with the history of how psychological disorders have been treated, then trashes SUSAN Johnson. AND the they can't pronounce "paradigm"? PARADIGUM. It's a joke, especially considering this is an educational book don't waste your moneyAND especially your time.

Real bad

I doubt real humans read books in this manner. Feels like automated read out. Can’t comment on the content since it’s not digestible due to the aforementioned reason
