About this listen

In his new book, the author of the best-selling Retrain Your Brain: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 7 Days delivers 10 easy, yet essential strategies for applying CBT to everyday issues with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a proven form of psychotherapy that is often the first-line of treatment recommended for managing depression, anxiety, worry, and other common issues. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple delivers a simplified approach to learning the most essential parts of cognitive behavioral therapy and applying them to your life.

Written by licensed psychologist and best-selling author Seth Gillihan, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple replaces workbook pages and technical language with quick and highly accessible cognitive behavioral therapy strategies that can be used on an as-needed basis.

Presented with simple and straightforward language, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple encourages listeners to succeed with:

  • Practical explanations of 10 essential CBT principles - such as challenging negative thought patterns, behavioral activation, and overcoming procrastination - organized in a similar structure to in-person cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Supportive guidance for creating goals and outlining strategies to help yourself meet them
  • Helpful self-evaluation sections to help you track your progress and reflect on what you’ve learned using cognitive behavioral therapy

For people who are interested in realizing the proven benefits of CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple is a vital resource that will promote personal growth as you overcome challenges and improve your wellbeing.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, a PDF of reference material not included in the narration will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

I listened to this book because I have been experiencing anxiety and panic attacks. This book really helped me focus on what mindsets and actions I can take today to help walking down the path of mental health. I am so grateful for this author and would recommend this book to others.
*Important*
This book is not something just to listen to, instead be willing to do the work it asks from you. I found the steps laid out have a tremendous impact if your willing to try.

Helped refocus my life

The performer reminds me of Brain from the cartoon Pinky and the Brain. The information presented in this book gives you a good basic understanding of CBT and some added perspective. I was able to apply a lot of the techniques. I shared concepts with my wife, and the book got her attention as well. It helped us with our own personal little issues we were dealing with.
This isn't going to solve every problem or replace therapy if it is needed. It will give you simple explanations and techniques. The author is honest about the technique, gives great examples, and includes a small supplemental PDF.. It will point you in the right direction to self-improvement and being less harsh on yourself. Always invest in yourself. You're worth it.

It's definitely worth checking out

Did not enjoy the performance. I was looking for help in dealing with others with cognitive issues.

Not exactly what I needed.

The content was good but I couldn’t get past the narrator, who is stiff and condescending.

Narrator is stiff and dated

Not really relatable - I didn’t feel like he was talking about things that would help me.

Didn’t keep my interest

The biggest problem I have with audible is the inability to access supplemental images and documents and other resources provided in the print version of the book, particularly in nonfiction. Can't a downloadable file or url be provided for accessing these files after purchase? The author refers to these items throughout the book and I just kept wondering what was the point of listening. Disappointed and annoyed.

Where are the goodies?

I have read many cognitive therapy books this is poor. The examples given are irrelevant. Many of the studies stated in the book are inflated

Not helpful at all

This book skipped over 5 chapters in audible and I was not able to download the companion pdf document that compliments the reading with excersizes. Can someone fix this for me?
