About this listen

Sometimes, certain people are better left dead....

Sam takes on an odd case: he's hired to track down a man who has been thought to be dead for more than 40 years but recently showed up alive to visit his dying mother. Now his daughter, who never even met him, wants to ask him where he's been all this time and why she grew up without him in her life.

When that man turns out to be a former government assassin who's gone rogue, however, Sam decides it's time for him to bow out of the case - but then he learns that the one you think is the bad guy isn't always right. The supposedly rogue agent, it turns out, may actually be trying to save America from global Jihad. With everything from his family's safety to the future of America's sovereignty on the line, Sam has to figure out who to trust and what to do, before it all blows up in his face.

Drifter?

Part 1 & 2 felt like they should have been a single book. The separation of volumes felt like an artificial break rather than one dictated by the narrative. That continues to confuse me.

The book was on par with my expectations for the series so I was satisfied with the story overall. The serial killer was a little two-dimensional in that his motivations always seemed synthetic. Still, and entertaining listen.

Too short for the $

Firstly I love Archers books and the Sam Prichard series!

However these latest are just ridiculous not worth the price I mean the drifter is split into three books less than 4 hours each! These should be Parts not nooks! The Drifter should be one book if your charging 12-15 dollars for these.

Besides paying full price for a 4 hour book the series is fantastic just seems like a big money grab!
Should be a collection not individual books these won’t even get me through a shift at work!

Too short for the money

What is with telling half a story?? What is this, a mini series or something?

Another light and fun Sam Prichard thriller!

This series is best read in order. It is a wonderful private detective series which have my highest recommendation. (Books 3, 6, 7, and 8 are espionage thrillers rather than modern detective.) I have reviewed all of the earlier books in the series. From my perspective the audiobooks are excessively expensive considering the length of the books. Later in this review I discuss how to reduce the cost.

The Sam Prichard series books in order are as follows:
1. The Grave Man
2. Death Sung Softly
3. Love and War
4. Framed
5. The Kill List
6. Drifter Part 1
7. Drifter Part 2
8. Drifter Part 3

The total length of all books in the series is a little over 38 hours.

The least expensive way to get the audiobooks is as follows:
Book 1: At Amazon buy the Kindle book for $0.00 and the Audible book is $1.99.
Books 3 & 8: One Audible credit or credit card if that is less expensive. On my Platinum Annual plan the credit is less expensive.
The other 5 books: Buy the Kindle book for $2.99 and the Audible book is $1.99

The Kindle version of Book 1 is free and the other 7 Kindle books are $2.99 each. All of the books except 3 & 8 are Whispersync for Voice. None are available as part of Kindle Unlimited. Audible does not yet list Books 6,7 & 8 as part of the Sam Prichard series.

A Waste of Money

Would you try another book from David Archer and/or Mikael Naramore?

Absolutely the worst writing and storytelling I have seen in along time. Shut it off halfway through. How does drivel like this get published? Clichey upon clichey. On top of everything else it turns out to be a stupid propaganda piece for ridiculous wing-nut conspiracy theories about how the current administration has a secret agenda for sacrificing America in order to fulfill its true agenda of establishing one world government or some such drivel.

Would you ever listen to anything by David Archer again?

Absolutely not!

How could the performance have been better?

Put lipstick on a pig and you still have a pig. Unsalvageable.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disgust that I wasted my money on such crap.

Author stretches material too much

The story after an interesting start just slowed down and spend a long time getting nowhere. I felt all of the un-needed slow moving discussions between Long, Prichard and Harry took up pages offering little. I am not going to consider the remainder of the Drifter books as my time can better spent and enjoyed on another author's material.
