About this listen

A widowed veteran gets the shock of her life in this impossible-to-put-down thriller from the bestselling author and creator of the hit Netflix drama The Stranger.

In the course of eight consecutive #1 New York Times bestsellers, millions of readers have discovered Harlan Coben’s page-turning thrillers, filled with his trademark edge-of-your-seat suspense and gut-wrenching emotion. In Fool Me Once, Coben once again outdoes himself....

Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her two-year-old daughter playing with Maya’s husband, Joe - who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier. The provocative question at the heart of the mystery: Can you believe everything you see with your own eyes, even when you desperately want to? To find the answer, Maya must finally come to terms with deep secrets and deceit in her own past before she can face the unbelievable truth about her husband - and herself.

Another excellent, can't stop listening book!

As always Harlan Coben writes another story that grabs you from the start and doesn't let go. The only flaw is that eventually the book comes to an end.

The Master does it again!

I never hesitate to purchase and listen to anything Harlan writes. This newest masterpiece is a roller coaster ride of suspense with just the correct number of twists. It is a fantastically entertaining venture and for me a novel that I "could not put down". If you have not read or heard Harlan's work you are missing out on a treat. Thank you too for a superb narration!

This is for you IF you like plot twists

This isn't just an action thriller, this is a murder mystery. And, unless you like dramatic plot twists right at the end of a story, this one just might leave you shaking your head in consternation. I think the problem with this story is that it starts out as a "how could this have happened" kind of story, but at some point it turns into a whodunit. Mysteries have to play out; however, too many pertinent details emerge as this story is brought to a rather abrupt end. First, the old bait-and-switch, then played like a cheap fiddle. That's how I feel now. The story is okay, but the way it is ends leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The reading performance was good, though. The characters are sharply delineated. And, the pacing was fine up until the end.

Twister with the Unexpected!

Always a big Coben fan, I was not disappointed I knew that tragedy would be intertwined throughout. The character flesh out as the story progresses. I don't want to give too much information. Immerse yourself and open your mind to every possibility.

I was fooled

I didn't establish much of a fondness for the lead character. She was too detached from her family (daughter) and a lot of characters and relationships were underdeveloped . I finished it, but was only because I had nothing else to read or listen to.

perhaps the best of Harlan Coben

Loved it! Stayed up half the night to finish. Good narration except the male characters sounded so much alike.
