Publisher's summary

THE THRILLER AND SHAMUS AWARD WINNING SERIES! When PI Dick Moonlight agrees to serve as the designated post-operative procedure driver for his sometime sidekick, Roland Hills, aka, Fat Elvis, little does he know that what awaits him inside the Albany Surgical Center is one of the most dangerous and bizarre hostage situations possible. Not only does a stunningly beautiful female inmate who's been transferred to the facility for a small operation shoot her law enforcement captors in cold blood, she or he as it turns out, won't agree to release any hostages until the doctors agree to give her a sex change. What follows is a volatile mess of viscous gun play, desperate hostages, and anti-police protestors. And did we mention the whole thing is being streamed live on Facebook? From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Vincent Zandri, comes the 9th episode in the Thriller and Shamus Award Winning series. For fans of bestselling hard-boiled mystery and suspense writers like Robert B. Parker, Michael Connelly, Lawrence Block, Don Winslow, and Charlie Huston. "The action never wanes." --Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinal "Gritty, fast-paced, lyrical and haunting." --Harlan Coben, bestselling author of Six Years "Tough, stylish, heartbreaking." --Don Winslow, bestselling author of Savages "Non-stop action." --I Love a Mystery

All the elements of present-day craziness.

Dog Day Moonlight was as much a Dick Moonlight PI tale as it was a comedic exercise. While I’ve chuckled at situations in each of the previous Moonlight books I’ve read or listened to, this story had my sides aching from the imagery of the various situations the characters find themselves in. Starting with Fat Elvis and his colonoscopy prep to the “female” inmate and her lover who take the surgery center hostage there were so many hilarious situations I couldn’t stop laughing. I believe the use of virtual voice to narratee this story was an excellent idea – I can’t imagine how many takes it may have taken a human narrator to get though telling novella. Listening to Dog Day Moonlight was well worth the time spent. Who knows, I just may listen again for the laughs.
