About this listen

Richard C Dellinger’s debut novel gives us a terrifying glimpse into the near future. An intense, pulse-pounding ride that will dig its genetically modified claws into you and won’t let go. A book for the fans of Michael Crichton’s clever techno-thrillers (Jurassic Park) and Stephen King’s nerve-shredding horror novels (Cujo).

World-renowned geneticist Dr. Peter Birch is barely hanging on. When his wife dies of Huntington's disease, his whole world crumbles. He loses his love, his career, his home...and his will to live. His teenage daughter is the only glimmer of joy in a bleak existence.

Then a mysterious package arrives. Inside, a white mouse - genetically modified with miraculous abilities. When Pete’s daughter shows signs of the same genetic disease that killed his wife, he realizes that this mouse could be the key to saving her life. But who sent it, and why?

As he races to find a cure he is recruited by a secretive company called Plinian Labs owned by an intensely private billionaire and philanthropist. Wielding a powerful new tool called CRISPR, the company is on the cutting edge of genetic engineering. But the more Pete learns about the company, the more desperate he becomes to escape. As the clock runs out, he must choose between saving his daughter...or saving the world.

Amazing Listen

Doctor Mosquito was written by Richard C. Dellinger and narrated by Doug Sanders. The book’s summary says that this is the author’s debut novel. This might make a listener wary. But have no fear this is an amazing listen. From exciting action to great character development and a couple of plot twists you won't see coming, this book delivers.

This book provides a new and unique glimpse into our future with genetics, medical breakthroughs, and cures. This is definitely a book everyone would enjoy.

Doug Sanders did a spectacular job narrating this audiobook. He brought this well-written book to life. Consistent cadence, unique character voices, conveying emotions, you name it he nailed it.

Editing, quality, and production were on par with most books I have listened to. It was clear, with no issue with sound or quality.

Excellent read (listen)! Timely story and thought.

Excellent book. Captivating storyline, built a little slow but connected well in middle and end. Also left opening for another book, which will be tempting! Great narration. Easy to listen to with good character variation. Characters were well voiced and consistent. Dnarrated descriptions painted a picture, not just read. Enjoyable all the way through.

Engaging and thought provoking

I was looking for a good fiction to allow my mind to escape on a road trip and couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Introduced an area of science I have had an interest in and did it in an understandable way with action and characters to keep you enthralled the whole way through.

Highly recommended!

Definitely a Good Listen

The story had an interesting, well-developed premise that seemed well-researched. It sounded like there was a lot of actual science, blended well with fictional science. The author gave the characters significant depth and their back stories were both interesting and thorough. I cared about the characters and wanted to keep listening as the story progressed.

Some of the action sequences were a bit difficult to understand at times--I can't explain why without spoilers--but it was fun to hear them play out. Also, one aspect of the story would have benefitted from some explanation. It was not clear why the antagonist took the science to such extremes. I would like to have known. Maybe we will find out in a second book? If so, I definitely would listen to it. The ideas were quite entertaining.

The voice over was excellent--the best I have heard thus far. The narrator created voices that were distinct and recognizable. He used accents really well, which helped me recognize characters on the occasions I was distracted and lost track of the dialogue (all my listening was while driving). His inflection was excellent as well. His voice has a great tone--easy on the ears the whole time.

Really good story and spot on narration.

Excellent storyline, good character building. Narration is really good too. New to both author and narrator but would seek them out in the future based on this book.
