Start with Just One Space

It's funny, but I've picked up and reviewed a fair number of books and audiobooks about decluttering, yet I am resistant to it (though I know I need to do it)! When I first started listening to this book. I didn't want the straightforward and assertive narrator bossing me around! LOL! That just shows the level of my resistance. They suckered me in with the idea of five easy steps and starting with just a small part of my house. I have a relatively small kitchen, and the space certainly is not currently set up for easy use. The audiobook is just over an hour long, and while I can't say all the suggestions completely won me over, when I went back into my kitchen and started working on dinner, I was looking at it completely differently. I feel like I will need to listen to this book several times for it to completely win me over and get me decluttering my kitchen, but at least, I'm a little closer! This book needed to have a chapter on mindset, for those of us who are resistant to decluttering, though we know we should. This audiobook includes a PDF of the book, which I appreciate, and I will probably go through, making notes as I plan my kitchen decluttering. I didn't really get a distinct sense of five steps—and the PDF has no table of contents—and to my mind, what is outlined is certainly not easy. For me, at least, even though it's a small space, I have much to sort through and organize. Oddly, the end section of the book is about meal planning, which didn't quite go along with the idea of kitchen decluttering. I know that meal planning is a popular book topic, but it felt tacked on and tangential. If you are interested in decluttering, and starting with a small space in your home, getting started in the kitchen with this audiobook may be helpful.

Really Helpful!

I received this audiobook for free, only with the request that I leave a review. So here it is. I love that this starts out with very simple steps. I didn't feel overwhelmed. I thought, "I can do this!". I've tried other "declutter" methods and they never get me anywhere. As the book continues she builds on what is previously taught. She is very thorough!! I'm glad I have the workbook to go to, now that I've been through the book, because eventually there was so much that even going back to previous sections wasn't enough for me. It's not just decluttering, it's useful information on HOW to do things, what to use, how frequently. As I listened to this I found a lot of helpful information. I even thought, "This would be perfect for someone who's never been on their own before". Whether you are looking for something to help you get started on just a simple level, or you want to dig deep, this is the book for you.

Concise and Informative

"Decluttering Your Kitchen in 5 Easy Steps" is a must-listen for anyone short on time and wants to make meaningful changes to their space. I loved how informative the book was, with clear ideas and exercises that can be generalized to pretty much every room in your home. This book got me thinking about what I really use my space for and what I would like to use that space for in an ideal world. The narration was clean and clear, with a little bit of page rustling, but not enough to distract most people. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
