About this listen
Do you ever feel like life is weighing you down? Like the stuff in your home, the to-dos in your schedule, the worries in your heart are too much? Make "lightly" your mantra, one lovely little word to live by, and transform your life.
There's no shortage of decluttering books on the market, but Lightly is different. It goes beyond decluttering - far beyond - to uplift your thoughts, your actions, every moment and aspect of your life.
Learn how to lighten:
- Your stuff: create a serene space with your favorite things
- Your step: consume less and live in harmony with the Earth
- Your stress: be less busy and breeze through your days
- Your spirit: clear emotional baggage from your mind and heart
Lightly is like a recipe book for minimalism, designed so you can dip into it anytime for advice and inspiration. Whether you want to clear out a closet, free up some time, or get rid of a nagging guilt, you can listen to the relevant section for the help you need.
What's more, Lightly is a complete philosophy of life. When you're tempted by an impulse purchase, trying to resist a chocolate donut, or struggling to say no to another obligation, all you have to remember is one word - "lightly" - to boost your resolve and make beautiful choices. It doesn't get any easier than that.
With this book, Francine Jay makes minimalism more doable and delightful than ever. In just minutes a day you can cast off the weight, and glide through life more lightly and gracefully.

Story
In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

Story
As high achievers, we’ve been conditioned to believe that the path to success is paved with relentless work. That if we want to overachieve, we have to overexert, overthink, and overdo. That if we aren’t perpetually exhausted, we’re not doing enough. But lately, working hard is more exhausting than ever. And the more depleted we get, the more effort it takes to make progress. Stuck in an endless loop of “Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat”, we’re often working twice as hard to achieve half as much.

Anxiety affects more than forty million Americans—a number that continues to climb in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. While conventional medicine tends to view anxiety as a “neck-up” problem—that is, one of brain chemistry and psychology—the truth is that the origins of anxiety are rooted in the body. In The Anatomy of Anxiety, holistic psychiatrist Dr. Ellen Vora offers nothing less than a paradigm shift in our understanding of anxiety and mental health, suggesting that anxiety is not simply a brain disorder but a whole-body condition.

Story
Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

Helpful, essential, kind and beautifully told
I absolutely loved this book—in part, because the narration is so well done. Casey Turner brings the right energy to Francine Jay’s philosophy. If you have even a passing interest in living more “lightly”—more thoughtfully, more mindfully, more balanced, more unencumbered, then you must listen to this book. Peace, fellow mammals!

Nice
It has some very helpful advice for the person as a whole on having less clutter in our lives - more than just materialistic. For example, how to be kind to people, ourselves, the environment, and the world. I felt like it was repetitive at times and would skip through sections that didn’t apply to my life. Overall, a nice book and would recommend to several people.

Did not like the narrator!
This is a good book but I found the way the narrator was reading very distracting. It was way too breathy with strange inflection changes that sounded as if the sentence was ending in the middle instead of at the end. The important points the author was trying to make got totally lost in this weird narration. Could not finish listening to the end!

book was directed to woman
The narrator almost put me to sleep. I know it's suppose to relaxing but it's too relaxing if that makes sense. Over the book has good points and I'm glad I heard it.

Lacked a story to engage the reader
I have read a couple of books on minimalism and I felt this one was just like a short summary of things to focus on when becoming a minimalist, but it didn’t really engaged the reader and lack a story behind it
