The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

New age look Mind declutter
There are some good ideas here. But listening to it all at once can be a bit overwhelming. Might be best to go one section at a time, taking on what appeals to you and implementing it before going on to the next.

A Guide to Mental Clarity
"Declutter Your Mind in a Year or Less" by Kai M. Jordan is a comprehensive guide for anyone looking to simplify their mental space and live a more focused and fulfilling life. Structured as a year-long program, offering readers practical strategies to identify, manage, and ultimately reduce mental clutter.
Content Overview:
The concept of mental clutter is tackled in manageable sections, each focusing on different aspects of our lives that contribute to an overloaded mind. Spread out with exercises over the course of a year it covers everyday worries and to-do lists to deep-seated fears and anxieties, the author explores how these elements can cloud our judgment and prevent us from living fully in the present.
The book is divided into six chapters, each focusing in on some ideas and then providing exercises on how to get started. This structure is particularly effective, as it allows readers to tackle their mental clutter in a systematic and progressive manner.
Digging into the chapters you will find yourself getting a view into the thoughts, values, what's really important, relationships and living in the present moment. Topics learned from earlier chapters return with a connection to other aspects in a natural way.
There is a bit of decluttering your physical space and tips if you didn't read the previous book. Showing how thoughts, physical space, and just being too busy lead us to that overwhelmed brain.
Strengths:
One of the strongest aspects of "Declutter Your Mind in a Year or Less" is its practicality. With exercises and actionable steps you can start using right away. The exercises at the end of the chapter help bring what was learned in the chapter to your life and apply it daily.
The tone is encouraging, and you'll find yourself rereading a chapter while practicing the exercises.
Challenges:
"But, a whole year?" I hear myself asking, and understanding after finishing the book. The changes will take time and it's been years to get where we need help. Expect a slow and 'stead wins the race' approach that our busy world makes acclimates you to wanting immediate results. This may be frustrating if you want a 'quick fix'.
Some topics and exercises feel like repeats of earlier work, but do have value in tackling again with new perspective and learnings since you started.
Conclusion:
Overall, "Declutter Your Mind in a Year or Less" is a valuable resource for anyone looking to cleaning up that mind space with some easy to follow steps and encouragement. Committing to the advice and exercises may take a while, but emotional well being and clarity will require more than just have a clean and organized home.
I'll leave you with my favorite quote from the book.
"I live my life by one phrase; 'there is no better feeling than simply being you.'"

Very helpful information
I have read Kai's other books (via Audible format), Declutter your Home and Organize your Digital Life, and found them to be very practical and usable, offering nice insight into the mental aspects of what it took to get us in the fixes we're in in the first place, and the strategies for changing our mindsets in order to get ourselves out of these messes. I was looking forward to probing more deeply into this mind issue, and to getting equally sound and practical advise on strategies to employ in order to achieve that.
Kai describes phenomena to which I suspect we can all relate. There is much that is wise in these pages, and I found much of practical use. There were many quotes and statements that we as readers would recognize as sound, clear descriptions of general principles pertaining to how our own faulty thinking can lead us into situations that are messy. Kai backs up these points with current research findings in the field of neurology.
Chapter 3, dealing with Relationships was an exception for me. So little of this chapter went beyond general truisms, and I found little that I could apply, either to change worldview or my behavior. I would have appreciated some case studies, some example conversations or specific situations - real or invented - to illustrate a problem beyond the myriad statements painted with a very wide brush, and then a description of a strategy for coping or dealing with the specific situation. Readers could from there extrapolate the principle for their own unique situations, but at least there would be something a bit more solid. Doing these things would have made for a much longer book, but as a life coach, Kai surely has such examples and I think delving deeper is warranted.
Kai does drive home the fact that 1) negative self-talk is a sabotaging activity and needs to halt, and she very aptly makes clear that what is needed is not just affirmations but an optimistic attitude, 2) sharing our true feelings with trusted circles of people can go a long way toward correcting erroneous thinking and providing emotional support, and 3) taking responsibility for our own happiness and efficacy is crucial.
It is true, as was one of the quotes offered (paraphrased here): we have no control over outside circumstances, but we do have control of our minds and how we respond to those circumstances, [so that is where the work must be done]. Sound. Sage. (It is ironic; however, that decluttering the spaces around us – outside us – is unquestionably helpful to achieving an uncluttered mind, but in this case, what lies immediately around us IS within our control as it can be seen as an extension of ourselves – afterall, we have created it, and so, we can change it.)
This book provides an excellent overview of just how vital it is for us to unclutter our minds. On this front, Kai is spot-on. One flaw I can cite is the absence of any real discussion of the benefits of meditation to become more aware of our thoughts and thought patterns – a missed opportunity, I think. A second flaw – at least in the audio book – is the rapid fire pacing dealing with the various bullet-points Kai makes in each chapter. Perhaps in the written book, where the reader can determine the pace, these bulleted items can be reviewed at the reader’s own speed; for audiobook listeners; however, there simply isn’t sufficient time to digest each gem. (I did not receive the pdf complements, but suspect that they would be useful, here.)
Not a fan of the narrator, Ms. McLey. Her voice does not soothe; instead, I find myself distracted by it. (I seem to be alone in this opinion, so perhaps you will find her voice well-suited to the subject matter.)
I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
