About this listen

Ollie Chandler is a brilliant and quick-witted homicide detective whose First Law is: "Things are not what they appear." So when a university professor is found murdered and the motive looks like revenge, a stunning discovery leads him to an unimaginable conclusion. Could the murderer be a fellow homicide detective?

As Ollie probes deeper, another detective is murdered. What is the root of this jumbled, deceptive mess of lies and secrets? Jake Woods returns from Deadline, and Clarence Abernathy from Dominion in this heart-pounding murder mystery bristling with tension and suspicion. Deception will take you to heaven and hell and back again...breathless to discover the truth.

Any additional comments?

It was a great storyline but the best part of this audiobook was the character Ollie Chandler and the reader who made him come alive.

I really liked the wise- cracking humor of the lead character in this story. I got a laugh out of many of the lines.
The story was well written with numerous twists and turns that really kept my interest. I really, really enjoyed it. So refreshing to find good stories that are clean - no sex of bad language
The performance of the narrator, Roger Mueller, was also excellent.

I bought this book several years ago. Enjoyed it then and again today. The narration is perfect for the story. There were negative comments in the reviews about the Christian emphasis in the story. I don't care to be preached to but I found the religious content to be in keeping with the story. The reader is free to choose his response to what is presented. Good listen.

Worth more than one listen
