About this listen

"Gloriously atmospheric."—Lucy Foley

“Truly excellent.”—Lee Child

“Gorgeous. . . . It has the halo of an instant classic.”—AJ Finn

In this widely praised debut crime thriller, a high-flying detective leaves London for a fresh start in the countryside—only to find himself on familiar ground hunting for a dangerous killer.

When Jake Jackson inherits his reclusive uncle’s property in the country, the detective seizes the opportunity for a new life away from the hustle of London.

The new home in this charming rural idyll is beautiful and the surroundings are stunning. While the locals are a bit eccentric, they’re also friendly and invite the newcomer to join their annual treasure hunt.

When a young woman’s bones are discovered, Jake finds himself pulled back into the role of detective, and on the trail of a dangerous killer hiding within this most unlikely of settings.

I loved this book. Best i have listen to in a long, long time.

EVERYTHING was outstanding. Characters you could like or love or the reverse. Descriptions of the natural world and a sustainable life style. Jake is the kind of individual I would enjoy talking with. Stig Abell's use of language is beautiful.
So glad this is the first of what will be a wonderful series. Guess I should say that the mystery had me guessing and the narrator perfect!

WAY TO GO!!

Very much enjoyed "Little Sky". Abella hit the ball out of the park for his first book, and I WILL EAGERLY AWAIT HIS NEXT THEILLER. Narration was well done and made the reader feel comfortable with most of the characters in the book. enjoyed the romance, but the mystery and intrigue were the most important pieces of the story. truly loved city police detective, broken by the loss of love and marriage, inherits his uncles massive country farm house and near-hermit lifestyle, only to find love and purpose in the quiet, but not common, country home. Great listen. Abella will mature his writing style, and truly hope we see another volume of crime, murder and intrigue in the backwater village!

Best narration of a book I’ve heard so far!

And I’ve been an avid Audible listener for the last four years. Oliver Hembrough is a 10-hour pitch-perfect match for this captivating book by Stig Abell. I discovered this book in a “Literary Hub” online excerpt from “Audio File” designating it one of the “Best Audiobooks of March 2024.” They had me at “Hembrough’s performance captures both the lyrical beauty of the countryside and the intensity of this well-plotted mystery.” I am so happy this is listed as Book 1. Hoping that Book 2 comes out … tomorrow!

A refreshingly different detective novel

Wonderful descriptions of both people and the nature they inhabit. Likable characters, well-developed plot and interesting reader.
