About this listen

In the New York Times best-selling Fixer-Upper mysteries, contractor Shannon Hammer can repair even the most distressed building. But clearing out the cobwebs from her current project may distress her...to death.

When Mac Sullivan - famous thriller writer and Shannon's new beau - first moved to Lighthouse Cove, California, he bought the historic lighthouse mansion that the town is named after. Mac needs help cleaning up the place, and Shannon is more than happy to get her handywoman hands on the run-down Victorian. But during demolition, a grisly discovery is made among the debris - the bones of a teenage girl who went missing 15 years ago.

Locals had always assumed Lily Brogan ran away from her difficult life, but it seems her troubles followed her to the grave. If Shannon has any chance of getting her renovation back on track, she'll need to tackle the cold case. But with new suspects coming out of the woodwork every day, she'll have to be careful to pry the right secrets and clues from the poor girl's problematic past....

Great story line.... ended abruptly.

Loved the overall plot of the story, but ends abruptly in my opinion. Still worth the read.

Addictive Listening Pleasure

This is the third entry in Kate Carlisle's Fixer Upper Mysteries. As with the previous novels, it features enjoyable characters and a place I would love to live. Since I've never been any good with a hammer, I am fascinated by a woman who makes her living swinging one. I'm also impressed with the main character's memory. She remembers people and events as if they occurred the day before. I would dismiss it as fiction, but some people are actually like that. Even better, between the narrator and the writing, I can easily picture these events taking place. Very enjoyable!

fill-in to make book longer

Too much detail on home improvement, it's like good fill-in.
Otherwise the story was good, very enjoyable.

Demolition can be deadly.

I loved this story line, the characters are engaging and the surroundings are just enough to keep the story interesting and moving. I can't wait to read the other two in this series. As this was an audio version I must also comment on the narration by Angela Starling. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her and would definitely recommend that you do also. Hope you enjoy this story as much as I have.

could not figure out the ending until it happened

I love the narrator and I have a cat who also likes to listen to her voice when we go to sleep at night. Lol the author does a great job of describing the homes of the Victorian era and has obviously researched much about home building and remodeling. this is a delight for me because I learn something as I'm being entertained. this is the fourth book I've listened to in this series and they are all great! in text form this would be called Light reading... So I guess the equivalent would be easy to listen to and follow while listening which makes it great to listen to while doing housework or driving

simple, happy ending murder mystery

I like Carlisle's writing, it is feel good happy characters with a touch of murder.
I'm able to guess the murderer most of the time. That's OK, I want to get to the end see if I picked the right character. The story is simplistic in that the badguy gets punished and life is happy for everyone.
