Publisher's summary

God is love. Crazy, relentless, all-powerful love. Revised and updated edition of the best-seller, now with a new preface and a bonus chapter.

Have you ever wondered if we’re missing it? It’s crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe - the Creator of nitrogen and pine needles, galaxies and E-minor - loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss. Whether you’ve verbalized it yet or not, we all know something’s wrong. Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions?

God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn’t working harder at a list of do's and don'ts - it's falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.

I haven't read a book in probably 20 years.

I'm not joking. This book was soooo breathtaking. I was in crazy love the whole time with God and his amazing wonders and his amazing promises and fulfillments of thise promises. The way God used Francis to write this book will leave you reading/listening in nothing other than crazy love. I thank God for putting this book on my heart to listen. Truly aweing!

There's so much to learn here, go read it!

This read should challenge Christians in America to reflect on their relationship with God and question if their faith is growing them closer to the God of the bible or convenient teachings that result in a watered down Christianity. Following Jesus is costly. There's something off if it's convenient. Francis shares parts of his testimony that are valuable experience and lessons we can look up to.

Something To Really Think About

Love the openness, the truth about how distance the church have move from that of the former church.

Great, but hard...

I really thought I was doing a great job as a Christian. I thought I was serving, going beyond lip service, and putting forth effort. But virtually every attribute in the profile of the lukewarm described me. That paired with the fact that lukewarm will be spewn out which would imply that I’m not actually a Christian in the first place gave me such heaviness of heart.

Now on the other be hand, it motivates me to follow God more staunchly, to share my faith more often, and to live a life that better illustrates an open hand to all - especially those who can’t repay. I was convicted to turn my heart more to God - because I have to see that my “Christianity” has become a chore (even in what turns out to be lukewarmness), so there is no way I actually LOVE him. So I told him that. And I will depend on Him to, as promised, work in me the will and desire to do what pleases him.

And in the end, I still have to resign myself to his grace and mercy. My salvation is only through the shed blood of Jesus, which brought me from death to life. Salvation is found in no one else (not even in my personal love for Jesus), for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

It certainly highlighted a need for change in my life, however.

A clarion call

Outstanding! This book is truth. If you are not challenged by this book as a Christian, you're either in a very good place, spiritually, or you're in denial.
