Myrtle has decided that she’s actually a very good cook. In fact, she feels she’s such a good cook that she elects to hone her skills at a cooking school. She persuades her reluctant friend Miles to join her, convinced they both could use some inspiration in the kitchen.
This cooking school enrolls one rather loud-mouth student who quickly makes everyone fed up. This unfortunate student, fond of telling tales out of school, learns that one man’s meat is another man’s poison. Myrtle and Miles must use their detecting skills to learn who’s been schooled in murder before someone else’s goose gets cooked.

But when one of her classmates, and former students ends up murdered, she has a new case to work on. But not everybody is as they seem. Myrtle must untangle a web of secrets and lies to find the murderer. And when another body turns up, Miles and Myrtle have to speed things up before one of them is killed next.
Myrtle’s attempts at a cooking class that is way above her level of skill was one of the funniest parts of this book. The fact that she refuses to see it is almost too much. The new characters in this book were all unique, and the main cast of characters were just as dependable as ever. The twists and turns in this plot make it a great cozy mystery, and I can’t wait to read more about Myrtle.
I would recommend this to those who love the whole series, but I think you could pick this book up without reading the rest of the series. The plot is fascinating, and the mystery is memorable. This is the perfect book to curl up with on a rainy day. Myrtle Clover is one of my favorite amateur sleuths, and Craig keeps delivering great books with no shortage of funny dialogue, great recurring bits, and the best main character I’ve read in a while.
