About this listen

Mira did not know what she had in store the day she fell asleep while wanting to escape her current situation. Overcoming a death from someone so close and burying herself in school and an internship has kept her somewhat awake and alive. An admiration for the actor James Dean was all that kept the memory of her father alive. If she couldn't be with her father, she could at least remember what they shared an admiration for together. She always wanted to meet James Dean...she didn't know it would come true. Be careful what you wish for. It may just come true.

Not a bad story for a short one.

It was an interesting idea and there was quite a bit of story for being such a short one.
I liked the characters and I loved the twist then the ending was very satisfying
I won't give any spoilers away but she meets here hero and then perhaps even finds love...What more can you ask for, especially in such a short book.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

What If?

Any additional comments?

This is an interesting little story and it is indeed little—whether you read it visually or listen to the audio book, as I did, it will only take a few moments of your day.

Ms. Alicea poses the question: what would happen if you had a chance to prevent someone’s death? In this case, Mira can’t do anything about her father but then she has a powerful dream about the actor who meant so much to Mira and her dad. Meeting him, even if in a dream, is an experience of a lifetime but can she—or should she even try to—do anything to stop what she knows is going to happen to this amazing young man? Not only that, a surprise in Mira’s real life is just around the corner.

In a story that’s heartwarming and more than a little sad, the author has created an appealing protagonist and shed a bit of light on what is a dark time in anyone’s life. The narrator, Emily Peot, is new to me but her voice is a good one for Mira—young, unsure of her emotions, very sad at the loss of her dad. I believe this is Ms. Peot’s first audio book and her lack of experience shows but she has the “bones” to become an effective reader.

if you like James Dean

I was given this copy from Denise Alicea for a honest unbiased review.
this short story 33 mins long was ok. The narrator Emily Peot was good.
the sappy love story between a teenager and her idol through her dreams. the story itself was well written but true to its word short.
I will be reading/listening to more of Denise's work in the future.

An entertaining half-hour distraction

NYC teenager Mira and her dad loved to watch old movies together, and shared an enthusiasm for James Dean in particular. Her father died a year ago, though, and Mira is burying herself in school projects, old movies, and James Dean materials rather than deal with her grief. Then one afternoon, she falls asleep on top of her books and magazines, and wakes up in a room that's familiar but changed...

It's 1952, and she's wearing a dress. Her best friend shows up and is eager to go out on their planned exciting afternoon of window shopping and maybe sneaking into a bar. Is it time travel? Is it a dream? We don't have to decide. For Mira, it seems very real, confusingly real, both alarming and exciting--even before she meets a figure from her dream.

It's a light, engaging short story, perfect for whiling away half an hour.

An Okay Story With a Good Message

"Consoling Angel" was a pretty good story. It had a good message. It was as if James Dean perhaps visited her in a dream and was sort of reincarnated into a new boy at school.

The narration by Emily Peot was okay but there seemed to be a bit of an audio issue. Otherwise she sounded pretty good.

meh

I was given a copy of this book buy audio blast boom. copy was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I have not been paid or persuaded in any way.

The quality of this audio is not good. There was a huge Echo while listening. The story was okay. it is a short story so a lot of areas are rushed and leave you wanting. The narrator was not relatable or believable.
