About this listen

Are you struggling to be an effective teacher?

Do your kids walk all over you, turning your classroom into a chaotic whirlwind of chatter?

The truth is, the majority of new educators have faced similar challenges with classroom disruption and low student motivation. You'd like to be friendly with your class. But you can't let the kids walk all over you.

There must be some way to harmonize such tensions... Some way to lead your class with the conviction of a general, but the gentleness of a scholar.

The solution lies in understanding the problem with a conventional approach to classroom management—which calls upon the teacher to encourage good behavior and tamp down bad behavior via a system of rewards and punishments. Recent research indicates that teachers who enable their kids to take control of their own academic destiny can bring about more positive outcomes for their students.

This audiobook will teach you how to be an effective teacher!

You will learn:

  • How to keep your class in line using effective discipline techniques that don't rely on bribery or punishment.
  • How to utilize active learning methods to promote student agency and incite your kids to work autonomously.
  • How to prevent your classroom from becoming a carnival. Instead, transforming it into an orderly place of learning.
  • How to enliven your kids with the spark of curiosity—that mysterious force that fuels the forces of intrinsic motivation within us all.
  • How to manage your slower learners, enabling them to excel without sacrificing the progress of your more advanced students.
  • And, how to get the parents on your side, turning them into aids instead of obstacles on their child's learning journey.

If you seek to take control of your classroom and create a lasting impact upon the kids who walk through its doors, then get the audiobook today!

Geared towards the Younger Students

It is actually a fairly basic reference that most teachers are probably already aware of; although perhaps a bit of review and reinforcements might help here. In addition, the focus is really on the younger side of the targeted students, with very little that I could see that would provide “effective” for middle school students. The narration was also pretty solid enough for a reference book, so that wasn’t much depth needed in the performance other than a good pace and intonation to keep your attention on the lecture.

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
